Rely on any sales rep (regardless of the product, company, etc) over your own research and due diligence and you get what you deserve, IMO.
My old boss was in the market for a phone last year. He was thinking the iPhone and ask my opinion. He has been using iTunes for years and has a couple of iPods.
The sales rep talked him into an Android phone and told him basically the iPhone sucks. (he must have been a fandroid) Anyway he later got an iPad, and regretted his purchase.
