Did you get it to work? My friend (in Chile) received the same pdf email as you, he restored/updated (was originally use Gevey), and now his phone is useless.
Can't use Gevey, can't unlock.

gevey supports the 4s but that's besides the point. why do people update when you need to just deactivate via redsn0w or SAM. simply do that After receiving the unlock email and connect to iTunes
don't want to lose that jailbreak now do we
check your imei status via imei.info
if it says sim locked: no then you're in luck. simply connect to iTunes with a non AT&t sim after deactivating iPhone using SAM tool...( you must be jailbroken)
