The problem with VoLTE is if you happen to jump from a VoLTE tower to a non-VoLTE tower your phone call will drop. It has happened to me so many times on Verizon I just turned it off.

Not with AT&T or T-Mobile. They hand off to "4G" when leaving LTE and continue the call. Verizon is the only one that drops because 1X cannot handle data during a call.

Interesting! I suppose you don't have any more details on the fix than this. Mine still drops to 4G when placing a call. Maybe one day! Thanks for the update!

I don't have any additional detail. I contact the rep via online chat versus a phone call. I prefer that method because I can do other things while they look up info or work on the issue.

Make sure you look on the att.com website and verify you live in an area that supports the feature. If you do, try the chat feature for support and tell them you would like to use HDVoice. Getting that to work requires the VoLTE feature to be active. One thing I did ask them is if they needed my IMEI number and they said yes. Off they went and after @ 2 weeks they sent me a message with the fix. They did tell me at the time of the support chat it would take up to 2 weeks so I was not surprised by that fact. HDVoice sounds different (better maybe) once you get a chance to hear it. The main thing I wanted though was the ability to use LTE while talking on the phone. Its nice to send a photo to someone while you're talking to show them what you're talking about.

I called a couple of AT&T reps. They tried a few things and said they couldn't figure it out. I guess I'm just stick with 4G calling for now.

My gf and I both have it on our iPhones and I can tell you, you arnt missing much..

Since they started volte here in Boston I have no hdvoice on my 3 lines. They told me that I live just outside of volte coverage and they provision phones by "primary usage address". I really don't care about volte, but since they converted HSDPA band to lte I have plenty of drop calls now, esp. when i cross Volte/4g border. CS told me that they couldn't help me, opened 3 cases with no resolution. I was told that I should wait till they expand hd network. My phone had 50 percent drop calls now. I checked the phone, changed sim card, tried another phone, Now I use t-mo second line with no problem. I opened a dispute with att. If they don't allow me to drop my contract I take them to my district court.
