Wonder why they are pushing shared plans so hard. The costs are about the same. Maybe market research suggests people are more likely to overpay for shared plans thinking they are more protected than before.
wrong buddy it costs way more for the data like almost 3x more. you also get stuck paying for texts that you may or may not want i only pay for 200 and barley use 50 of em.... not even close
Why even bother with AT&T or Verizon? AT&T is too much into these money-grabbing schemes and Verizon is way too buddy-buddy with Google.
Seriously, just sign up for Sprint. Unlimited text messaging, unlimited data, unlimited mobile-to-mobile. How can you say no?![]()

EverYday?! Seriously who r u talking to
None of my friends or associates work for free. Nor do they work at a discount.
Apple makes a fat profit, well above industry average, on almost everything they sell. Yet the moment AT&T makes any move regarding pricing, people get all emotional.
If you cannot afford the price to operate your smartphone, it's time to learn how to budget.
Perhaps a pre paid feature phone is more your style![]()
Can you provide links to supporting information on this (and/or can anyone here confirm that they've seen the same thing)? If AT&T truly is throttling data so badly after just 3GB that you can't even reliably stream music, then that would definitely make me rethink my position about keeping my unlimited data plans. I use a large amount of data, but probably keep it under 3GB normally. But I've been hesitant to give up my unlimited plan because I figured my usage will probably only go up in the future. But if they're making the over 3GB usage practically unusable, then I'd be more apt to switch to one of the newer plans, for the other benefits they offer.I'm tired of everyone saying they are jumping ship to Sprint as well, their network in most areas is horrible, and the grandfathered unlimited plans people want to keep. Why? I currently have an unlimited plan, but I can't use any data after 3gb because it's throttled so bad I can't even stream music.

My kids, my wife, my two good friends.
Kids call me every morning. Wife sometimes in the afternoon. I talk to my friends 2-3 times a week.
Why would you do such a thing? Is it saving you money?
Not exactly accurate. When you upgraded from the original iPhone to the 4, you were moved from one unlimited data plan to a new unlimited data plan. Remember that you used to be charged $20/mo for data, and when you upgraded to the 4, you started paying $30. The $20 plan was only for EDGE devices, whereas the $30 plan was to encompass 3G devices. When I switched to the iPhone 4 I had the original iPhone with only Edge. I was able to keep my unlimited data plan that I still use today even though I moved to the 3G network. I'm not saying that AT&T can't make us change plans when the next iPhone comes out, but there already is history that grandfathered plans can move to upgraded networks.
EDGE == 2G GSM dataSomeone correct me if I'm wrong, but both EDGE and 3G were GSM technology, whereas the new iPhone will be LTE technology.
When is Apple just going to start their own cell company..

Dear, ATT

Well, customer retention.
Some of those grandfathered plan subscribers are holding onto cheaper rates or seeing unlimited plans as the only reason why they are still with AT&T. If you read other comments in this thread, there seem to be more than a handful.
I don't think people really understand how much money all that bandwidth that face-time uses costs.

ATT dominates the market, they have no incentive to provide good deals until they begin to waver. If you want a consumer friendly plan, switch to Sprint or Verizon. They are both playing catch up (Sprint more-so). If you're willing to ditch the iPhone or Jailbreak and throw out a few features T-mobile has even more impressive rates than even Sprint these days.
