I bought an iPhone 4s from Virgin last August and am pretty happy. $30/month gets me 300 talk mins and unlimited text/web. Only 3G speeds, but it's usually good enough. When I'm at home I'm using WiFi anyways. Though I don't talk a lot on the phone, I have gone over my mins a couple of times. Not a huge deal, you can top up at 10 cents/min, or just restart your new month at any time. The next plan gets you 1500 talk mins for $40. Still pretty damn good. I upgraded to that one for a month. It's funny, when I'm single I can stay on the $30 plan, but when I'm playing the field I need more mins! Better to stay single I guess... more $$ in the pocket all 'round

Yes, T-Mobile allows this. I currently use T-Mobile's $US30 prepaid plan which comes with 100 mins of talk/unlimited text and web - first 5 GB up to 4G speeds, then it drops to 2G after. I am a heavy data user so I couldn't be more than happy with this plan.

I signed up with T-Mobile and have two accounts, both have 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 5GB data. Why two accounts? I get 5GB data for my 4S.

I also have a data plan only sim that I renew occasionally to use in my 4S but it's hard to get fast data speeds here in my area like what I can get with T-Mobile.

I am bit confused with your statement in the above. You say you have two T-Mobile accounts with the 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 5 GB data, but wouldn't that you give 10 GB of unlimited 4G, rather than the 5 GB data? But then again, you may have two phones or so I assume.

What brand/company is the data plan only sim? I might consider that plan when I get an android.

It is pretty well hidden, maybe because T-Mobile doesn't profit as much from this plan, but nonetheless it is still there.

I have a Sprint iPhone 4s (first model they carried) and my 2 year contract is finally up in a couple weeks. I'm gonna leave Sprint and try a prepaid month to month plan for a while until the 5S is announced. So far I'm digging T-Mobile's $30 value plan the most. Question is, does anyone know if my Sprint iPhone 4S will work with their network? And how do I go about unlocking it to do so, if that's necessary?

These might sound like dumb questions to some here, but I don't know a whole lot about the different carriers and device interoperability on their networks. Thanks folks.

I still see no compelling reason for any of these new pay-as-you-go plans when Boost is offering GOOD multi-core smart phones with full 4G unlimited, 2.5gb monthly caps and then only 3G throttling for data there-after for FOURTY-DOLLARS A MONTH. Contract free!

Come on! Boost will be getting iPhones and then it's DONE.
$10 more dollars a month on T-Mobile u get unlimited talk text and data.

Not to mention T-mobile is already bringing LTE in. Quite a few places in LA already have LTE! Wooot!!! I switched from ATT to T-mobile and never been happier. Faster, less dropped calls etc. No more BS excuse, like we're the number 1 network, but if you don't like us drop us like you don't like it but we still better then everyone else. YES I DID and your not better! Oh yeah all my speeds with ATT are below par. Speed tests are rigged by ATT I believe. They know the sites and make them faster or something. Other then yahoo, I can hardly browse other sites. Verizon still rocks, I got 17mbps-34mpbs/15mpbs-17 upload with them. 3-15mpbs and 1-4mbps upload with ATT but websites other then yahoo ever load up! Talk about hops to the www not existing! T-mobile i get 15-26 mbps and 6-7mbps upload!

Burbank, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Gabriel, West Los angeles have LTE

Hey could you upload a screen shot of speed test? What is your DL speed?

AT&T has never really competed with their prices, except maybe with Verizon. Not sure why people are shocked at the $65 price tag and 1GB data. Of course they won't match TMobile...

If you do the math, this is about on par with what you might have paid with their on contract plans minus the cost of phone subsidy.

Err maybe because the whole article posted is about "getting more and paying less w/Go Phone". Also we SHOULD be shocked they have managed to price themselves going the other direction. They have managed to make PrePay prices and spin it around to look like such a better deal which is way worst and not remotely competitive.

ATT offers contract unlimited for $69.99 + $30 (3GB) = $100. The GoPro 'on par' price would is $65 (include 1GB)+ $25 x 2 = $115. Geezz they are offering $15 off their full retail pricing! I am glad of the other options available. Can't stand ATT.

T-mobile's plans are unquestionably better. Still, that AT&T is even offering this as an option right now is only because they're being threatened by T-mobile. This move is meant to stop the defections. They probably can't go any lower because they've been spoiled by past high margins. But if they keep losing customers to T-mobile, you'll see improved pricing from AT&T real fast. Of the 3 top carriers, AT&T hurts the most by T-mobile's new deals, because T-mobile's network upgrades are now compatible with AT&T hardware.

I think for now, AT&T may be able to justify its pricing because they do still have wider LTE coverage. But that's changing quickly.

So can I use a iPhone 4 on T-Mobile with Data and visual voice mail? Their ads only say iPhone 5:confused:

Also do they allow to carry your old number over?

MacRumors has learned that AT&T's GoPhone prepaid wireless brand will be undertaking a significant expansion of its services starting tomorrow, offering support for the AT&T's fastest LTE and HSPA+ data networks for the first time and also adding official support for the iPhone.

Article Link: AT&T's GoPhone Prepaid Brand to Gain iPhone and LTE/HSPA+ Support Tomorrow

I think this looks like a win-win for AT&T and Apple (more for AT&T, though), because it will give old iPhones better access to AT&T on a budget. Imagine a phone that has gone off contract that can suddenly get onto a low-budget contract! That gives the old phone greater useability and that gives AT&T access to more customers.

YES IT WILL! In fact, I broke my contract. It require a little bit of work:

1. Buy the GPP Sim on ebay, makes sure to buy the Sprint 4s, it is very easy to use and does not require jailbreak for iOS 6.00

2. Buy the sim card of your choice. I recommend Net10 blue micro sim (Blue works on AT&T, purple works on T-Mobile, you want the AT&T one) (99 cents, also on ebay)

3. Make sure to sign up at the END of your current billing cycle. For me, my billing cycle was the 19th so I did the switch on the 16th. Notice that Sprint iwll not refund you for any unused service so make sure to use them as much as you can.

I am curious though, how come your contract is up in 2 weeks when Sprint introduced the iPhone 4s in October? Are you sure?

For me it made perfect sense to break my contract and pay the $100 ETF, I will break even in 2.5 months based on the monthly savings ($45 vs $85).

Can someone explain these 2 plans to me?

$65 a month: Unlimited call, unlimited text, 1GB Data
$50 a month: Unlimited call, unlimited text, unlimited data.

So, if you have to purchase a data package with the $25 and $50 plan, why does the $50 plan say unlimited data when the $65 plan says it comes with 1GB??? With $25 for a 1GB data package, the $50 plan becomes $75, making the $65 plan the value.

I'm just curious why they list unlimited data on the $50 plan in the chart...

What in the world is the difference?

The $50 plan is only for feature phones, AKA those cheap flip phones. That's why it offers unlimited data, as feature phones don't use up as much data than a smartphone.

For those of you looking at tmobile, it's really most advantagous to get the new iphone 5 - as it's the only iphone that supports tmobile's AWS frequency. They have refarmed in some areas to support 3g on older ATT iphones, but tmobile has greater performance on its AWS frequencies.

Not better than T-Mobile's.

$50 Unlimited w/ 500MB of 4G.
$60 Unlimited w/ 2.5GB of 4G.
$70 Truly Unlimited.

Supports any TMO phone or unlocked phone.

AT&T still doesn't get it

They still tie data and voice plan. You can't get a data plan unless you buy a monthly voice plan.

I did try T-Mobile $30 plan a while ago. Great scheme but less-than-great coverage where I am.

These are on my 4S. I don't have a 5 so these speeds are pretty good for a 4S. On my Nexus 4, I get between 12-26Mbps because that phone is made for T-Mobile like the T-Mobile iPhone 5.

Yes. The 4 will get slower speeds than the 4S and iPhone 5 but it will work and Visual Voicemail will as well.

There is just no reason to use AT&Ts GoPhone prepaid.

Let's see, with my new T-Mobile plan (family) I get unlimited talk and text + 500 MB of HSPA+ data for about $22.50 per month per line out the door (I get a 15% corporate discount on the plan that essentially covers taxes and fees). Even if I paid for 2 extra data to make it more similar to the GoPhone plan, that's only about $33 per month. That's $30 a month cheaper than this GoPhone plan and with 2.5 GB versus 1 GB of data. Yes, the AT&T network is better overall but not $360 per year better.

Even if I signed up with an individual plan with T-Mobile, it's still cheaper by $15 / month. It's good to have options though so keep the competition coming.
