The corporate discounts would apply to the corporate rate... $45 not $30.

On my non-iPhone personal phone bill, my 19% FAN employee discount applies to my personal rates, not the corporate ones. Since the iPhone is now "just another phone" according to AT&T, I am confident they will treat it just like a Blackberry.

I wish I had the same confidence in AT&T altruism. My FAN didn't apply to the iPhone.

Here's AT&T's Press Release...certainly gives them wiggle room to say the FAN applies to the business plan, so 19% off $45 or $8.55 off, or $36.45...more than the consumer pricing.

"Unlimited iPhone 3G data plans for consumers will be available for $30 a month, in addition to voice plans starting at $39.99 a month.

Apple Pwned by AT&T

Boy, Apple got taken by AT&T in the negotiations didn't they? Total lifecycle cost to the customer for the 3g iPhone is $40 more than the original. AT&T isn't doing revenue sharing anymore. Sounds like Apple's getting the same money at the time of purchase as they were for the original iPhone (only now some from the Customer and Some from AT&T). Hope the new phone doesn't cost more to produce and ship. Apple is locked into a new sale process guaranteed to maximize the number of AT&T subscribers versus the current process which maximized iPhone sales.

Somehow this reminds me of the bad old days when to buy a Mac you generally went to the back of some ratty CompUSA, paid too much for indifferent service, and afterwords you wondered if it was really worth it.

I already pay $80/per month, for the cheapest plan. I just don't have any desire to spend any more than that. I'm sure the 3G is going to be great, but I don't view it as a must-have.
