The following conditions and exceptions apply, as do those listed on the Product Specific Policies pages.

Partial refunds:

* Any opened computer returned within 30 days of delivery: 85% of item's price.

Basically a 15% restock fee.

and a restock fee?

NONE ... just have to pay the shipping back .... that will be waived if the system is defective :)

I have returned 2 laptops in the past 6 months and was never charged a restocking fee. Strange...

Just for the record they were opened and not returned as defective.

BTW: Amazon is an authorized apple retailer as well.

Just wait!

Apple has to release the MBP soon

And if you buy it now, please don't be one of those whingers who post online and say 'oh no, the new ones look so good, I should have waited that week/2 weeks/month etc'.

You are buying old tech at a high price if you buy now, why would you do that if you don't need it.

I effing hate you. All of you. Not really. :)

At what's probably the very last minute before my MBP went into assembly over in China, I cancelled the damn order. It pretty much stemmed from learning that my CTO machine couldn't be returned, at which point I started considering my options. If the Mar 16th release actually happens, I'd still have time before my must-have-a-100%-functioning-computer date to get the new one.

I swear, it's a disease. Luckily my 3,1 is hanging in there with no major issues so I'm not in an immediate hurry.

It felt so damn good to order it and be done with it but NNNOOOOOOO!!! I had to go overthinking.

Bah.

I was in the same boat as you but I went ahead and ordered today. No cancellation here. And I'll tell you that my mind is at ease. I, unlike you, need a new laptop asap. I couldn't wait any longer. My thought is that if something goes severely wrong with my MBP and I am granted a replacement then I will get Arrandale or Sandy Bridge - whichever is out at the time.

Hi everyone I hate to hijack the thread but some of you saw post Apple Mayhem put on "waiting for arradndale" thread, why did it get shutdown, and then the other thread someone started also get shut down? I guess we arent going to hear from him, but something would be nice for all this insanity!

Anyway, if you play the waiting game you'll be rewarded.

i'm not convinced that is true.. at least not for me personally but sure, it might look better on paper.

if the current line up is in fact the last of the core2duos then i'd say they are the best ones ever made.. the arrandales, although newer, will be the worst ones ever made..

a not-so-great analogy but... what would you rather use, 10.5.8 or 10.6.0 ?

common brown09 , pull the trigger on the one from amazon with next shipping and have it march 4th.

Send it back and re-buy the new model from amazon if the refresh comes within 30 days !

I invite you to reread my post. I'm looking at it from OPs standpoint. He's ready to go out and buy right now, but can wait for however many months. Assuming the new ones come out within 30 days, op can either buy the machine now, or buy the same thing at a substantially less price later. I make no mention of what the new machine will have, because no one knows and the guesses are wild, but previous gens are always priced to move when the new ones are released.

oh, don't get me wrong.. i ain't trying to battle you..

personally, i'm doing exactly what you state in the post which is -- wait til the update then pick up a 17 2.8 or 3.06 at a great (relatively) price..

:D (and i want as many on-the-fence buyers to go ahead and get a current version because they'll be the people most likely to craigslist their 1-2 month old computers.. the more of those on the market, the better i'll be) :D

LOL....welcome back to the boat of the 'Waiting Souls' !! Here..you can have your old place back....:D

Is this a sign, I was heading to Best Buy when the car started making weird noises and chugged.

next thing I know it turns off. I decided I better just take it home, instead of risking something bad happening.

Sign from MBP gods

mbrown don't do it. I am right there with you man. I have been waiting since December and here we are in March. My 2.16 Core 2 duo macbook pro is still chugging along but I am waiting for that I7. If by chance the 2.66 unibody drops down to $1449 on the refurb store, I MIGHT have to think twice. Otherwise, I have waited this long. Stay strong dude!

Me Too

Been waiting since December 20th.

And my oh my do I need that MBP in my hands. I broke out in a cold sweat today ready to pull the trigger, but then a friend talked me off the ledge.

I told myself I would wait until the end of March. I really need a laptop, but I will hold out 28 more days!!!!

/puking from waiting

i will be buying a C2D in the next few days. My campus computer store has lowered the price on the 2.53 13.3" to $1199...its too good of a deal to pass up for something we have NO IDEA when its coming, and when it does come out, lord knows what kind of problems it will have if its already being delayed because of them.

I have been in the Amazon checkout a couple times this last couple days with a 17". I have all but clicked confirm.

how is that "too good of a deal to pass up" ?

it's similar to what apple was selling refurbs for weeks ago when they had 13" in stock.

If you want to buy it and be done with it—great. But it is hardly a great deal given the timing.

I saw that exact computer in the refurb store TODAY- and it was $1450. I know because I bought the exact same on, brand new on ebay, for $1250, today. (But no tax! :) ) So probably about the same price as yours. I say go for it.

Some kiddos were not playing nice over there and the mods shut 'em down. Then deleted the offensive posts.
Who knows if we will hear from Mayhem. I was really looking forward to it. I think the 'waiting' thread will be back up soon though. Maybe he will come post tomorrow.
