Yeah they canceled mine too. At least you got the respect of an email, I just happened to check my order number on their site to find out.

I'm now in minute 34 of waiting on the phone for them.

To follow up more on the story. I ordered around 8 am yesterday. Got the confirmation email immediately. By 3 I still wasn't seeing a charge or my order show up in their system. I spent 45 min on hold calling in to find out that for some reason the order did not finish, and was on hold. She did something to cancel the credit card transaction and run it again and said all was clear after she ran it a 2nd time. I called my bank and checked on the first transaction and they never got it...they only had the new charge so something happened on AT&T's side.

Right before I went to bed last night I checked the order and all was well...not showing back ordered or anything. I get up this morning, check the order and it shows canceled...no emails or any communication of it.

I just spent another 45 min on hold to find out that they canceled the order because of that first canceled credit card charge, even though they had successfully charged it again. I was told that the charge was returned 'invalid' meaning I didn't have the funds. (There's thousands of funds on that card...and it had a 0 balance) I referenced my conversation with the bank about how they never got the first charge and she basically told me the error was between me and my bank. She couldn't explain why it was canceled when they had successfully charged it a 2nd time.

Long story short: She ran it again and surprise surprise, it goes through. However, she says it's treated as a new order so I lost my initial place in preorder line which means I no longer get mine on launch date. Who knows when this thing comes now. She couldn't tell me. She even said that they only have so many and she hoped mine went out before they were out of stock. So I may not see one for a long time, since basically I'm now at the end of their preorder line.

Damn I wish I never went with AT&T. I didn't want to, but I got up at 7am yesterday and tried with them and got nowhere. Went to att's site and it was working fine so I pulled the trigger with them. Ugh.
 
Folks, I am SERIOUS about raising the possibility that someone else might have ordered an iPhone under your account without your knowledge. See this story:

That person received confirmation for an iPhone 4 and he claims he never placed an order!

Things were obviously seriously screwed up with AT&T's servers yesterday. It really does sound like security protocols were breached!

I'm not surprised at this one bit. After all Gizmodo is reporting that they have evidence of people logging in to their AT$T account and seeing other people's information due to the server meltdown.

Check your order status with phone number. Mine was a duplicate. The one that went through was never emailed to me and I never saw a confirmation number, it just timed out as it was processing, but did make it through.

Yep I panicked too until I checked with my wireless number. When I preordered the server timed out once. The one in progress is a different number from the one that got cancelled. No email yet on the in progress one.
 
I got the same message. Did yopu maybe hit the button more than once as I had ATT check and my order is still in the system and good! Check you status.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Because of this I was able to piece together what happened to me, as well.

I placed the order online all the way to a confirmation page, which I saved. Then this morning I got the cancellation email for that order number and my head began to spin.

Finally I see that the order still showing online in my account is a different order number - one for which I got neither confirmation nor a cancellation. (BTW, I had zero luck getting through on the phone because both times the AT&T hold system informed me they were too busy then hung up.)

I had several system hangs along the way to placing my order, but honestly I don't recall getting all the way to submitting my credit card more than once. But I certainly did start the process several times.

Guess I'll choose to remain optimistic for now that I have an order in queue... until I can finally talk to someone to confirm.

But we can all trust AT&T to track our data usage accurately now that they've stuck us with caps.;)

i thought mine was canceled....called AT&T ready to open a can of whoop a$$ lol and she said due to timeout error my order was placed twice..only one order was cxl, unfortunely for me that was the only order number that was given so i didnt know. i just called, hold time 20mins FYI and was given my other order number.
so before you end up cursing out ure email inbox like i did lol call, hopefully it is as simple as that...but honestly i still dont trust ATT until i have the phone in my purty lil hands!
 
Just received my 3rd email that my order has been cancelled. I'm shrugging this one off since it is yet another order number that I don't have any record of in my saved files. (I also don't have any record of my confirmed orders by 2 different AT$T reps either!) I still remain hopeful as well that I'll receive my phones by "late summer"! :confused:
 
I never received an order confirmation email from AT&T yesterday but I did get TWO of these emails today. Good thing too because I was able to order it from Apple later in the day. And I got a confirmation from Apple with a delivery date of June 24th.

Maybe they're canceling orders of people who also ordered via the online Apple Store???

I'm curious because I ordered at an AT&T store.

Yes, all of my order attempts were online either through Apple (never got past the AT$T verification screen) and the AT$T premier site.

Same happened with me...I printed a receipt for an order number ending in 238, then got a cancellation notice email on that order. Apparently the first order had gone through even though the screen timed out on me and did not go to the receipt page. When I checked my order status using my phone number, it showed "in progress" with an order number ending in 357, and was only charged for one phone. With all the glitches yesterday, at least double orders like this were caught.
 
Whew, think I'm OK. I couldn't get the order to show up when I logged into my account, but using the link in my confirmation email for the Premier lookup, the order shows there and it's marked processing.
 
And this is precisely why I also have a reservation at the Apple Store next Thursday in addition to my pre-order from AT&T. I'm fully expecting AT&T to pull something like this in the next week.

Does anyone think that having an Apple Store reservation would jeopardize an AT&T order that was already confirmed?

Also, if you get confirmation that your iPhone has shipped from AT&T, would it still be possible to purchase the reserved phone from the Apple Store for the unsubsidized price?
 
I ordered off ATT at 7am yesterday. Mine is not cancelled and can still see my order status online. My card was also charged yesterday right when I purchased it.

Nowhere do I see where you address this statement made by AT&T in their letter. Are you saying that they are wrong, and your information is correct and you did NOT try to exceed the number of lines?

They've given, what appears to be, valid reasons for canceling. But I don't see you addressing that issue?

What's the rest of the story? AT&T doesn't just cancel orders because they don't like you. They gave some reasons - are they not valid? :confused:

Poor Gizmodo...I wonder how long before AT&T sends their own gestapo to knock down their doors demanding evidence that they have regarding security breaches on their ecommerce site?
 
Moral of the Story? Never trust Apple _or_ AT&T.

Let's not forget it was Apple that _chose_ AT&T. Not the other way around.

Before the iPhone debacle, I got crystal clear reception and no dropped calls on my BlackBerry, my HTC smartphones, and my Samsung BlackJack, all on AT&T.

Then I bought my first of three iPhones and the problems began.

Don't get me wrong I love my iPHone 3Gs, but there is more to the story than just AT&T's shortcomings.
