I just got a text saying ATT has improved coverage, stability, and speed in greater atlanta, athens, and north Atlanta. for the 3G network 🙂
Woot does this mean the 7.2 MBPS networks? Has anyone else got this text message? I'm so excited.

I believe this is related to the rollout of their 850MHz 3G network in the greater Atlanta area. Same speed, different frequency.

Just more reliability when it comes to calls. 850Mhz penetrates buildings better than 1900MHz does; hence, less dropped calls and better reception.

I'm in Atlanta and I didn't get this message 🙁

I get great signal though. It used to switch to Edge once I got home. NOW I don't even turn on my wireless connection anymore

I'm in the area, but didn't get the text either. There IS an article in todays Gwinnett paper touting the new network capacity. We'll see....

UGH! All they are doing it making Edge slower for us non-3G people. 3G isn't in enough places for them to be doing that...damn u ATT

wow they tell you when they upgrade? I just woke up from a nap one day (literally) and saw I had full 3G service. I up until recently I only had full EDGE available at my house but it was dwindling here and there and then about a week later I had 3G finally. Didn't get a text message though, but I regularly get 1.5-1.9 Mbps though so I'm not complaining haha. It's sometimes faster than my cable internet because their networks are so congested here (charter.)

I just researched it and yeah, it's 850 MHz networks. It's to improve coverage and reception. Yay...Also sprint deplyed it's 4G network in Atlanta. Atlanta must be a very important city to deploy networks in 😛.
