No. ATT won't unlock your phone. Don't we all wish. He probably means JB and installing Ultrasnow to unlock which you can do yourself for free if your baseband is compatible.

Yeah I knew you all would think that so I added some quotes. Certainly sounds shady.

I am not sure how you guys don't get it unlocked for free in the UK I just call the network or fill in the web form and they unlock it for free.

Surely if you ring and say your going overseas and need your phone working they may do it?

They will do it for any phone except the iPhone. As far as the subject of this thread, I'm pretty sure it's someone who is planning on taking the money and not actually doing anything.

I'll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge, cheap.

There I said it. I'm some guy.

You are gullible. Don't you think that if this was legit that AT&T would be shouting this from the hill tops? It would be splashed all over their website if it was real.

Only Apple has access to the database for legitimate unlocks. Carriers can send in a request for a particular phone to be unlocked, but they can't unlock it themselves.

I don't know anything about @SuperPaddyNL & I m sure @MuscleNerd too doesn't know about him, but my rule "money for unlock=********" applies

I certainly agree, I would not be the first or ever if he doesnt explain how it is done.

$174 Iis pretty serious. At that price I want him to prove it 1st. How dud he come up with $174 any way. I say total fake suckers are born every minute.

I was looking at his twitter. I see he list several paypal issues. I think people file a complant he refunds the money. I will guess at some point he will blow dodge.

His site.

Well, that makes him look really legitimate ;)

Either this is a scam and he's doing a runner with everyone's payments, or else he's found a back door / inside track into the systems which do the unlock provisioning (in which case he could disappear at any moment and your phone could be re-locked by AT&T).
Personally, I'd steer well clear

It's possible he works for a carrier that's authorized to send in unlock lists to Apple. However, with AT&T, it's hard to know if they could ask apple to re-lock your phone.

I sent him $174 and didn't hear from him again.

Maybe if I send him another $174 I might get a response

Someone needs to look up his domain info, i'm in O'Hare...
