I ordered around 4:30 CST on the 15th. Does not show as back ordered received a second email this morning saying order was processing and they would contact me if they need additional information.
 
I ordered 2:00 am Alaska time, 15 June on regular ATT site. My status shows 15 Jun order date, in progress status, and not back ordered. I just got my email order confirmation from ATT today, 17 June.
 
Wow. Sounds like premier dropped the ball even more so than regular AT&T :(. That is completely backwards, you would think business customers should have as well if not better support. Oh well. Can't wait until next week :D
 
I got my order through at 1:40 am pacific time on the 15th through premier. Order status just showed on AT&T regular with an order of the 17th and showing backordered.
 
Well, looks like the AT&T site is down overnight so hopefully they are fixing there system to show some consistency and update us on what to expect next week. :D

I ordered on the 15th at 1:30AM PST through AT&T premier. The premier site shows that the order is processing. The regular site shows that it's back-ordered and the date ordered as 6/16....... The two free phones that I ordered at the same time show an order date of 6/15...

Mine is showing something similar. Ordered at 7:30 a.m. EST on June 15 and order went to 'attention' status. Went to 'processing' status about noon on June 16 and today it shows my order updated on Premier site as June 17. It has been moved to the regular AT&T order side and shows an order date of June 17. I hope they process my order as stated on the Premier site of June 15 with a June 24 delivery date.
 
I finally was able to order around 2PM eastern time on the 15th after fighting with AT&T all day on the phone. I could have ordered much earlier but I was trying to have my number ported over and that was the hand up. I ended up just forgetting about the porting choosing to do this after the fact and I had to wait until 2 or so to get the website to work for me.
I had to wait over 24 hours for a confirmation email and AT&T order progress has me set at order date of 6/17 which really pisses me off as I ordered on the 15th. My progress still says "in progress" so I have no idea what that means in terms of backorder or not. I will be livid if I have been pushed back to a July ship date as I have been waiting 3 years to get an iphone and could have ordered at 9AM eastern had it not been for AT&T's customer service or website failures.

UPDATE 1: I just got off the phone with AT&T and they said that if anyone placed an order with AT&T before 4:30 Eastern time on the website they will be set to get the phone on the 24th. After 4:30 they can expect to get the phone on the 25th. Regardless of the "order date" they show that mine is an order that has a phone to back it up and is not a backorder or anything else. She assured me I would see the phone on the 24th.

We'll see how update 2 looks in 3-5 days to see if it says "shipped"

Ordered from premier at 3 est on the 15th, at&t is showing ordered on 16th and backordered.

My credit card still hasn't been charged...should i be worried?

Yeah I called the porting division after all my problems just to confirm that I could port my number over after the fact. I was told I had 30 days from activating the phone to port over my old number so I plan on test driving the phone for a few days then porting over if I like it. I also may check out the Droid X or whatever although I am 99% sure I am going with the iphone.

I am not worried about it showing up as backordered. In my mind, they are all backordered as AT&T likely doesn't have the phones in stock yet.

I ordered mine at about 3 AM Chicago time (AT&T Premier) just after the servers went live, so I am about as sure as one could be that I'll beer getting mine on June 24.

yeah thats what i was thinking. i didnt even know about this backorder business until i got into this thread (havent checked order status on regular att site). premier says processing and order date of the 15th so im pretty confident its coming in on time
 
Whats making me mad is that a lot of people that ordered after me are supposedly getting statuses that are good. I ordered at 5:00am Central time off the at&t premier website on 6/15. For a day it said ATTENTION!- and then changed to processing without me calling. Then on 6/17 I was able to check my order on the regular at&t website. It says back-ordered. Still on the premier site my order date says 6/15, but on the regular site it says 6/17. If I get delayed while others that ordered after me gets their phones, I'll just have to deal...but I won't be happy:mad:

I think that the AT&T premier website never talks to the regular website.
Correct me if I'm way off base, but I think premier orders go through the corporate ordering system.
So the weird order statuses on the regular website is some patched together thing, and buggy.
We'll see what it looks like come Monday or Tuesday when everything ships.

Edit: In other threads, people have noticed the same disconnect. It appears that the order date in the regular AT&T system is when the Premier database dictates that you have an iPhone set aside for you (whenever they approve your subsidized pricing or eligibility or whatever). So, I ordered mine on the 15th and was immediately approved (because I have an eligibility credit from late 2006, due to owning only the original iPhone), so my dates match. If it took longer (they had to check whether you are eligible), your date won't match.
What's important is having an order in the regular system. Even if it's backordered, it should ship on time. If your order hasn't crossed over yet, you're outta luck, and probably won't be getting one.
 
I went into an AT&T store at around 8:00 PM Eastern on the 15th. I was shocked to see only one other customer in there. It was especially shocking due to the fact that all day at work I was reading about the craziness in the stores, and the location of the store is in a very busy area where I live (Polaris Mall area in Columbus, Ohio). I was thinking that the iPhone had sold out or something.

I bought my wife an iPhone 3GS for Christmas 2009 and wanted to convert our plan from a single plan to a family plan. This is the reason I went into an ATT store vs. trying to order online.

So the salesman takes all my info including FAN (25% off yippy!). I told him I wanted the phone delivered to my house. The order went through immediately. I swiped my Visa and that was that. Later on that evening at around 11:30 PM I got an email from ATT saying my phone was reserved.

When I check the site now it says 'in progress' for everything and nothing is showing backordered. The date is 6/15.

I wonder what my chances are of getting the phone on the big day?

You can apply your fan discount to equipment? In this case the iPhone 4??
