After reading many threads here I have lost trust in what AT&T employees are relaying.

According to a guy on the ATT forums who says he is an ATT employee says that ATT preorder time starts at 12 p.m. Pacific Time.

What about online at AT&T? Or calling into At&T?

Actually the post was for 12pm PST so I asked the following just to confirm.
Just a quick question? You do know that the US has something called Daylight Saving Time so 12 pm PST is not currently correct so would you like to update that time?

He means Noon tomorrow, whether its PST or PDT is just overthinking this. I doubt he's trying to make this into a puzzle to solve.
When you preorder, do they just put a $1 hold on your credit card to make sure it is valid or do they check and see if you have the $499 "in my case" on your credit card? I get paid this coming up friday and will have plenty of $$$ then, right now I do not have the $500 in my debit/credit card. Do you think I will be OK giving them that CC# even if it doesn't have the full amount at the time of preorder?
I call BS. Best Buy just announced their preorders start at 7am tomorrow. Why would AT&T start so much later, especially considering the AT&T store here opens at 9:30?

If it's 9 am pst it would be 6am east coast time. I"m in NC and my aunts are three hours behind me in CA..Just an fyi
um... no its the other way around...
they are going to put the entire 499 on hold then when they ship it they will charge you another 499. so you have to have at least a grand available on your credit card or you will be SOL.

Actually, midday PST seems realistic. My guess is 10 or 11 AM PST.
With all these retail stores having the launch, it seems that Apple may have geared up with a large number of phones ready for delivery. Maybe more than they ever had. It's not like this is the first time they've done this. I wouldn't worry too much about Apple running out of phones to cover the first day of pre-orders.
