ATT Pre-order time is 12:p.m. PT

He means Noon tomorrow, whether its PST or PDT is just overthinking this. I doubt he's trying to make this into a puzzle to solve.
Well he responded that he meant

Well that is clear, so that would be 1 pm PDT or 2 pm MDT or 3 pm CDT or 4 PM EDT

This should be fun

Interesting, so 3 am EDT.

I call BS. Best Buy just announced their preorders start at 7am tomorrow. Why would AT&T start so much later, especially considering the AT&T store here opens at 9:30?

Where did you see that Best Buy begins preorders at 7am? From what I read, you can only preorder in-store (not online) and I don't believe Best Buy stores are open that early (unless they are opening early just for preordering, which I doubt).

[sarcasm]I'm an AT&T employee, and I can pre-order you a phone right now. Just PM me with your SSN, Credit Card Number, and the color/size you want!!!;):D;):D;):D;):D;):D;):D;):D;):D[/sarcasm]

See how easy that was?

But Wilcre has been on there for years stating he is an att employee.
I don't think ATT would have let him use that tag line if he weren't.

My sister's boyfriend works full time at Best Buy, I'd ask him, but he's in Vegas, but I read online that Best Buy is doing pre-orders.

Interesting, so 3 am EDT.
No that would be 3 am EST or 4 AM EDT using the time of 12 am PST as the base. That's why I asked for a clarification.

Well in this country most areas's use a little something we call Daylight Saving Time been that way since March 14 this year.

See: 3 AM EDT = 12 AM PDT = 11 pm PST so even more confusion and more threads about what time does Pre-order start....?????

they are only doing in store orders so whenever they open i believe it is 10am that is when you should be able to order at that particular store

Dave,
I'm confused as well. It should be all in PST/EST OR PDT/EDT for example. Ahhh this is nuts.
Is this really happening???

they are going to put the entire 499 on hold then when they ship it they will charge you another 499. so you have to have at least a grand available on your credit card or you will be SOL.

This makes no sense to me. I could see them putting a hold on your card when you order. They may even go though with the charge. Why would they hold $499 and then hit you again when it is shipped??????

If I had to guess-There will be a hold placed when you order. Once it is shipped the hold is lifted and you are charged. Happens all the time for everyday transactions.

Are you effing kidding me with this? If he said midnight Pacific time, he means midnight, local time, in the Pacific time zone. No one with half an IQ point would think you need to convert PST to PDT. He just didn't think to type PDT.

In this country, we never refer to a time as being 12am PST/1am PDT. We may adjust for time zone, as in 3am Eastern/12am Pacific. That's it.

12am is 12am, you don't have to adjust for daylight savings time.

Sorry but we will have to agree to disagree.

If you put the PDT / PST tag you are not just indicating 12 AM Pacific Time ( adjust for Daylight Saving Time as need ). In this country if you really need to have the details for example see this mess:

Nevada recognizes Daylight savings time March 14 - November 7, 2010. Arizona doesn't recognize Daylight Savings time so there will by a time difference when you cross Hoover Dam during this time.

Arizona is one of the exceptions to the rule when it comes to observing daylight saving time in the United States. Most parts of the state, except the Navajo Nation community, observe Mountain Standard Time (MST) all year long. MST is also known as the Mountain Time Zone and is seven hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Well WHATEVER, he has now clarified and ATT is taking preorders at midnight tonight according to Wilcre who seems to be a very credible source.
Like I said from the very beginning.

12 Noon

My friendly neighborhood AT&T store employee told me they would start pre-orders at 12 noon EST, AND that you can order more than one phone as long as you are porting numbers over from another network. We'll see if either of those things actually happen.

+1

What are all these people talking about? If you live in the Pacific time zone...it will be whatever time he said no matter what PST/STD/PCP...whatever your in. It doesn't matter. Everyone should know what time zone they are located in. No, I won't be traveling to a Navajo Nation community to buy an iPhone and if I was then my guess would be that I live there and I should know what time zone I am in.

Well did your "friendly neighborhood AT&T store employee" mean preorders at his friendly store or online? :)

Yes, there are a few places that don't use daylight savings time. An international company would use the time used by most people, in this case, daylight savings time. The only places that would use the distinguishment are those odd places that refuse to use daylight time.

So, to keep it simple, a company like Apple uses daylight savings, even if some moron typed PST instead of PDT.

This doesn't really make a difference, really, because I don't buy the midnight thing. Apple seems to do things around 10am. If they started preorders at midnight, they'd need to have extra staff on hand in case something goes wrong. I could be wrong, but I see preorder being around 9-10 am PDT.

Until I hear from Apple I will take this with a grain of salt. No offense to other posters here or on any other board. I just want some sort of confirmation.
