I guess I am just confused because it is pretty clear what their direct stance is. This is how all the teclos operate.

Verizon only throttles its highest users during the periods that it's necessary for multiple people to share bandwidth on a congested cell. If there's no congestion, there's no throttling. It's a policy that at least makes sense and seems pretty fair.

AT&T continues to throttle its highest users for the rest of their billing period, even if they're the only ones on a cell.
 
Pretty sure AT&T can change the terms of their contracts at any time and if the wanted to can terminate it as well. People who bitch about this are the top 5% and have some sense of entitlement that someone owes them unlimited data.

For the record I am grandfathered in but I don't have a job where I'm watching Netflix and streaming radio. When I'm at my office or at the hospital I'm using WiFi.

You took my point out of context. What I was saying is, you ask any rep from any telco WHY they are doing what they are doing and I can virtually guarantee their response is going to be some cookie cutter prompt that comes from a computer screen. We know that. Such is life.
 
I got my first throttling warning text this week, for streaming March Madness games. I was thinking of switching to the 3GB plan for $30, that way I'm just charged $10/GB when I go over, instead of being throttled. However, if the iPhone 5 is going to be LTE, my grandfathered unlimited plan will get me 5GB for $30/mo before throttling? Maybe I should keep it. This is the first time I've gone over 3GB. Guess I can't stream video.
 
Just wondering if you switched to Verizon and, if so, how is it working out.

I switched my wife over to Verizon right before they dropped their unlimited plan. I wanted to make sure we had both options open. I'm probably going to wait till the iphone 5 comes out before I switch over to Verizon myself.

I think most of the data I used was from itunes match pushing my music to my phone. I'm not sure how that works, but I really didn't do much different this month other than that and streaming radio which I didn't do too much of as my drive to work is only 5- 10 minutes.

I don't need unlimited every month, but I travel for work 2 days a week and thought I was one of the lucky few to get grandfathered in.

I know I signed a contract and there is always fine print, but it's pretty shady to advertise unlimited and then throttle it. This is just their way of pushing their loyal customers to buy one of their tiered plans.

This is just my humble opinion. There's no need to bash each other on these issues. :)
