I’d rather see them state a limit for data, not the top “5%” of users. They state “extraordinary” a lot in that news feed, which is fine, but what happens when these “extraordinary” data hoggers start getting throttled? Do “ordinary” users then get throttled when they climb up to the top “5%?"

Yet, Sprint just lost million of subscribers and their shares went down 20%.

Both Verizon and AT&T are growing so fast...

People you asked for duo monopoly and this is how AT&T and Verizon will make money off. Give you less and keep the prices same.

As long as AT&T and Verizon rises, this trend will continue.

Same here. Seems like they keep it real vague on purpose though to confuse.

Hypothetically what if I use 1.5 gb per month but 95% of people on Att only use 100 mb? Your then going to throttle me? Don't grade on a ****ing curve just tell us what the actual limits are ATT!

I was referring to the people who jailbreak and ignore their contract. And I don't really feel sorry for those people. I don't think this throttling is going to affect very many people who actually obey the rules and don't tether maybe a few get there through video streaming only, but that's probably less than 1% of the people who still have unlimited.

I go to they gym and do cardio everyday. While doing long cardio sessions, I can hook up my iPhone to the machine's tv and watch Netflix. When I am lifting weights or doing pilates, I am often listening to Pandora. I easily go over 2gb a month. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. My girlfriend also goes to the gym with me, she doesn't have unlimited, so she cannot do all those things. If AT&T throttles me, there will be hell to pay!

This. I want to see a real number. 2GB, 4GB, 5GB.

Odd

I have used 5.1 gb of data with only 10 days into my billing cycle..I stream pandora on and off don't download any 230 mb size games sometimes watch YouTube videos with 3G unristrictor enabled. I do not tether at all and yet in two days I used up 2.5 gigs! Something fishy is going on at att hq..maybe it's just me but in past months I could barely get past 4gb a month doing same usage as stated earlier.

At the very least what is there top 5% Average 5gb 10gb 20gb etc. I have noticed my Data go way up too. manly I just surf and stream music a few movies. I doubt I'm near top 5% but with out actual numbers how can you even prove your not. Also what's to prevent them says the top 10% or 20% next.

No Tethering is like going to an all you can eat buffet and wanting a take out box so you can get some food for the wife and kids at home.

Better yet bringing your satchel with ziplock baggies and just filling it up to take home. Some folks will just be pigs to be sure they get "all" what they think they are paying for. Never mind about any others....

If AT&T's goal is to lose more customers to other carriers then job well done. Hopefully the others won't follow. I have a feeling true unlimited data days are numbered.

LOL, I bet they are scared! I use Pandora at the gym (3 times a week for 2+ hours) and I don't use over 2Gb a month.

Wow. Just one more reason to cancel my AT&T service and sell my iPhone to cover the ETF and final usage charges. I could definitely live with just using an iPod Touch on WiFi and a cheap prepaid phone for calls/texts. I think it's clear that AT&T isn't going to forget us "grandfathered" unlimited customers anytime soon.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't hate tetherers. How long have you been able to connect to the internet via your phone? And AT&T was dumb enough to offer unlimited data plans??? They should just kick everyone off unlimited if their goal is to curb data usage. Actually, the best solution would have been to have caps from the start instead of picking and choosing what was acceptable to do and what wasn't. But I guess when you have 1 major competitor, you can get away with crap like this.

Yea Pandora isn't too bad, but Netflix just eats up data like no other. 30min episodes for shows are like 200-300mb (I'm guessing here, but they are a lot, especially when you do it almost 7 days a week.)

Sprint has gained ~1 million subscribers for the past few quarters. They just keep losing money.

Also:
DataPro, the next step up, provides 2 gigabytes of data a month to a single phone for $25 a month. AT&T says, on average, 98 percent of its current mobile customers use less than 2 gigabytes of data each month.
lol

Although that was a year or so ago, so its not unreasonable to think that usage may have risen so that its 95% use less than 2GB. However, 5GB is out of the question, and the only reasonable soft cap seems to be in the very near vicinity of 2GB.
