ATV1 Sync issues

Hi,
Is it not possible anymore to sync data from iTunes on your pc to your ATV 1.
When I click on DEVICES on the left hand side on iTunes the Sync function etc are greyed out.
I wish to store music onto the ATVs hard drive without streaming from my pc.

I believe new iTunes versions no longer support syncing the ATV v1

Thats bad, they could support syncing music on the current models then
