How is Mame performance? How recent can you get and still maintain high frame rates? If you can get to the mid 1990s (Daytona etc) I'll be extremely happy :)

I'm there now and they are asking for payment. No option for a free account.

I can't be certain because I'm a paid developer. But by the time you've gotten to that screen your developer credentials should be set up. All you need is the username and password you used to register with. Just don't pay, exit the process and try your credentials with Xcode. It won't cost anything to try it out.

Quick question here... How does one update the version once you've set it up within Xcode? I've installed it and got it working on all my new Apple TV's but noticed the developer has updated Provenance however when I open up that project it doesn't update. Do I have to pull the project again as if starting new? Doesn't sound right so figured I'd ask.

Referencing the version number from the same screens where the bundle identifier is set and I'm on version 1.2.2

Just do exactly what you did to install it the first time. It'll update what needs updating and leave the rest as is.

I did that and it actually overwrote everything which isn't a big deal but for those who may not be aware I had to re do the bundle ID and team ID's.

Lastly, when you click on the targets, for Provenance it shows version 1.2.4 and for ProvenanceTv it's 1.2.2.

Does that indicate no changes made to the app for the Apple TV? I've been following that git and seen some issues were being addressed and wondered which version to go by when deciding to update the app on Apple TV.

You'll always have to re-do the id's when you download a new version. When it installs it'll overwrite as much of the existing app as it needs to, even if it overwrites it all it shouldn't touch any roms you've added, which is the main thing.

You'll often find different version numbers for different builds in an Xcode project. As you say, sometimes you'll make changes to one and not the other.

As for provenance, looking at the commits, the only changes relevant to Apple TV are a fast forward fix and a dead zone adjustment addition for the controllers.

If you want to keep up to date, then always go for the latest builds. I tend to just wait until something significant has been added before I update. The old if it ain't broke don't fix it :D

Thanks for the info! You've definitely clarified things for me!

Hi guys, thanks for this, I got it working OK!

WHen I enter the ROMS folder, I can see no ROMS even though the ROMS are present in the app on the ATV. I am looking to delete a couple of games but cannot see the option. Any advice please?

Same issue using chrome and safari

It's a shame the Nimbus has a lag, makes the emulator pretty much unplayable

Strange, I'm not getting any lag with my Nimbus. I was actually shocked how "instant" it feels, especially compared to the two other MFi controllers I own (SS Stratus & Moga Rebel).

Maybe what you feel is the emulator lag itself. All emulators will always have (albeit usually tiny) lag. That's why the most hardcore legacy gamers always prefer to play on an original hardware console.

really? it's so slight, I'm trying to play super mario brothers :)

I've got a Mad Catz CTRL (Nimbus is sill on order), and I found the same thing with Super Mario World. Unplayable. However, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has no lag at all. Ditto for NHL 94, and NHL 98.

Don't know why it would be ROM-dependent. Can anybody else test Super Mario World?

For the MAME emulator, I tried to install it the same way you do Provenance, but I get mass error in the Run portion. What am I doing wrong?

On the Apple TV, just tap and hold on the ROM and select delete when the menu pops up.

I'm pretty much sold on an ATV4 now.

I have just one question though-is there a list of these Sega & Nintendo games that this can play?

*Prays for Sega Rally*

I've never been pleased playing SMW in any emulators, on any platform, ever. For some reason there's no way to have this game responsive enough to play, and I kind of gave up on it a long time ago (other than playing on my actual SNES). I don't have this problem with the vast majority of my other games, thankfully.

they all work, you just need a mfi controller

Eventually managed to get this and the MAME emulator running, so a big thanks to the developers - top job!

The Siri remote is pretty useless for playing most of the ROMS I've tried so far though, so fingers crossed someone manages to get a PS controller working with the aTV4 as I don't see me spending £50+ on a MFI controller.

Some work better than others.

I logged maybe 6hours  on SNES Metroid yesterday, lol.
But SNES DOOM was a slideshow.

I admit I don't use Xcode much, but am getting this error after clicking "Fix Issue" and logging into my free developer account: "An App ID with Identifier 'com.jamsoftonline.ProvenanceTV' is not available. Please enter a different string."

Anyone else get that?
