Thanks for the summary guys...guess I wasn't up for reading 900+ posts, haha.

My patch is being tested by a 09 mac user. If it works, I just made a fix for this issue

Care to tell us anything about it?

And whatever you do, don't work for Apple - we need responsible able communicative people out here in the land of the free.

I can tell that it's a one button click (I already made complete GUI) and has Reset button that should be used before applying OS update.
I will explain it if it works. I don't own a 09 myself.

Working for Apple lol, who knows. Right now I'm trying to finish high scool (I'm 18)

That would be freakin awesome if an 18 year old high school student fixed this in his spare time when Apple and their "pros" have let this go on for...a year. And he doesn't even own an 09 Mac Pro.

If you live near NY and want to work for Wallstreet I will help...

I've got a reply from a guy who writes for the register.

He said he's going to try and get an official reply from apple on the matter.

Would make for a great headline if cindori has managed to fix it and apple hasnt bothered lmao.

To me it sounds like it's working. :)
he will return tomorrow with more tests.

Cindori Patch

My patch is being tested by a 09 mac user. If it works, I just made a fix for this issue

Cindori, I wish you success. But quite frankly even should it work, I would urge people to wait on it until 10.6.3 comes out. If nothing improves after that, do as one wishes.
I'm 90% sure that the people at Apple who can actually address this problem are at least aware of it. Having dealt with Apple for awhile now if it's something they can fix without a major hassle they will fix it. If the problem is too deep or too expensive for them, they will deny it to their deaths altogether. Ask any of the 1/4 of all the people who bought G5s.

I am pretty sure the fix is working but there are some issues with it.
I have confidence in resolving them tho! But it takes a crapload of time since I dont own the computer myself.

could someone willing to test plz add my msn, it's in my profile

Yes, that's a concern, especially considering this affects only one type of machine. But along with everyone else here I do appreciate your efforts and will line up for your fix if 10.6.3 shows that Apple will be deaf on this.
Thanks for the time you've put into this.
I am wondering about one thing though. Why the mystery explaining what you're doing? Are you going to charge for the fix?

I have been threatened by Apple Customer Service, and told that my Applecare agreement will be terminated with immediate effect if I share details of my case with the media
Hi Smacman,

You know who here... Is that why I haven't seen you at the ADP site lately?
Did you catch my little aside to the Times? :)

Wonderful news. Only 18 huh? Man, you are rocking.

Did you de-compile the kext file? If so, what tool did you use, if I can ask?

Thanks,

yes I am going to charge $ 40 for the fix

lmao, no way  ofc its free

reason I didnt out my whole theory is simply because it need more testing and tweaking. The first time I actually read this topic was yesterday so I still have to learn about this

basically the route I am trying to take is to disable the power management driver, I noticed it has been discussed earlier but deemed not viable because of sleep errors, cpu power saving states and performance problems. I found fix for the sleep, now trying to fix the others.

also, the fix will be good anyway for audio engineers still using older OS versions.

versions.

Are there any dangers in doing this? Or is that what you mean when yo are working on it? I've got an 09 MP on the way...thanks so much for doing this!

should be no danger at all, and totally reversible
what I'm working on is enabling native speedstep

I need a 09 user with a SL install to play around with...

Mine should be getting here on Tuesday - if you still need me then I'm up for lying on the operating table!
