I was able to get out to one of the local parks to run (little more than 12 miles) and got the National Parks challenge badge:

On my August challenge, I have 285.3 out of 318.8 miles. If I can get in another 12 mile run at the park later this morning and get in 7.5 mile runs Monday & Tuesday mornings, then I should have a good chance of meeting my August challenge.
This just makes me realize how bad/out of shape I am. I’m not fat in the traditional sense… unfortunately as much as I love running I’m really not suppose to so I mostly fast walk.

I walked from one end of my city to another which may not seem much but it took roughly about 4 hrs (including about a hour break so maybe more like 3 plus change) and was roughly 9-10 miles total. And all that got me was stinkin’ 20k in steps. Today I’m a bit pooped from that so I didn’t get to do at least 10k in steps which would have put me over 100k this week.

did about 48 miles this week, which was a bit more than what I’m guessing my usual is, which would be 43-45, which means on a month that’s maybe 172? :(

not sure how y’all do it.

Congratulations! Man, some of those challenges are like death... My watch wants to kill me.

Hey, a GREAT idea for a t-shirt! An image of an Apple Watch showing progress on goals, and those words. Maybe throw in a skull and bones or a tombstone maybe?
Or since few, if any, challenges are for bicycling, how about this t-shirt:
Getting in regular exercise on your bike - Extra years added to your lifespan
Meeting an Apple Fitness Challenge - Boost to your satisfaction in life
Getting a f**king challenge for a bicycle - Priceless!

Well, in my case I have bee regularly running (although some years are not as good as others...), so I have been able to build up to longer distances and running on hilly terrain.

It is easy to fall back, though - 2016 - 2019 I did't get in much running, and that led to me rededicating myself to getting in more runs last year and that has carried over to this year.

Still, though, 4 hours of walking is great - it should have been a good workout and it takes some dedication to exercise for 3-4 hours. 🚶‍♂️👍👍

There were some that included biking, so I wonder why the change. Why are they dropping biking, it seems... BOO!!!

You mean finished? Right???/

Yes... finished, completed, etc. etc. Apparently I couldn't multitask last night, I posted that while cooking dinner.

Or he could have meant he got the challenge badge.

Or maybe iAssimilated uses a completely different calendar and it is the beginning of August for him... :D

Exactly what I meant. Thankfully no, I am happy to have a down day.

This was weird, from yesterday (still August).

Goal status:

And the 'gimme' award I got?

Activity-2.jpeg

So 200% of 740 would be 1,480, not 1,335! I mean, thanks, but... Even the announcement of the award shows I didn't earn it. Hmm...

Got my September Challenge:

'4130 Exercise Minutes'....which comes to 137min/day or ~2.3hrs per day! Really pisses me off as my JULY challenge was 3350 Exercise Minutes! So, not only do I almost go right back to the same challenge but its increased by almost 25%!!! Don't know many coaches ( or even work management types) who demand 25% increases in output!!!

'Only' 133 a day. Rock on!!!

Just had to log my August Challenge award. It’s been a rough month emotionally drained physically weakened. Just sick of everything so started light home workouts again a few long walks.

Got a bike a sweet deal, seems to be a trend this time of year. Took the train 60km away from home, and after most of August, last week finally able to meet and purchased Specialized Rock Hopper.

haven’t had a bike in almost 20yrs and I’m Very picky with bikes - I prefer small mountain bike frames as they remind me of BMX bikes maneuverability and light weight.

RockHopper 29 super light, shocked me. Amazing after so long how easy it is to get right into your normal cadence, the balance (yet no hands takes a bit, odd right), and awareness and mood picks right up from when you last rode.

late night home left crank got loose so only 1 ride before the threads in bottom bracket stripped. Seems to be a major issue I’ve had with almost Every bike I had but late night ride - such great childhood memories smelling camp fires. Took bike in for tune up pedal came off literary 1 store past CyclePath (lol just passed it).

repaired and tonight back on it.

notes: really cool helmets have this MIPS system. Now it makes sense for Apple to use AirPods Pro’s gyros for cadence as I think next is fall detection with Watch/AR-Glasses in time. While riding with AirPod Pro’s and Watch I find I’m using Siri MUCh more than ever before - not gonna wipe out from raising/lowering music whilst riding.

Finally got my September goal, and it excludes cycling. I have to run or walk 175km this month. I can't run.

They seem to be continuing their 'war on bikers'. What's up, Apple?!?!

Cycling has never been a monthly challenge… they’ve added so many workout types to the default app over the years they really need to come up with different challenge types. It’s getting boring, plus, pushing higher every months on calories or minutes - is senseless. It works for those who do not regular exercise but certainly not for those who actually excel use daily or almost daily…
