They will, however, bow down to the courts.

. . . of the injunction prohibiting the sale of the device in that country.

Its not forbidden to be sold if nget ur stock from foreign suppliers. Theyve been doing it for months here in germany with the galaxy tab too

And how'd they copy the iPad exactly?

They dared to make a tablet look like a tablet
can u imagine the same childish behaviour in the tv business lolol

Oh dear Apple.

Don't you know how much harm this does to your (non fanboy) perception of your company?

The only person you are harming is the individual consumer, and the only person you are looking like a bully to, is the individual consumer.

Why don't you focus your efforts into making the best products you can, and win the hearts and minds of customers by making things they naturally want to sell, as opposed to trying to stop them having a choice in the 1st place.

No one likes a bully and the only thing these things will do is create a negative imagine in the minds of normal people.

Dear dear :(

Agreed

What a ridiculous statement. Someone can love Apple and what they do and not like every single product.

And who says he doesn't understand anything - he just finds the device, in his opinion, not of much use to 99 percent of the people. Whether he's accurate or not - it's his opinion. That doesn't mean he doesn't get it. Nor does it mean that he's any less of an Apple fan because he doesn't praise the device as the jesus tablet...

+1. I don't yet have iPad. At some point I probably will get one, but the fact is that it doesn't do everything I need. My MBA does. But that doesn't mean I don't respect it's significance. It's just not what I need right now.

Are the Galaxy Tabs really selling well? For awhile I thought you got one free with purchase of a new Samsung TV? But seriously, are these even selling well? It is a lot of effort for a company to go through if the galaxy tabs do not sell that well.

Hi, while banning the product from selling somewhat stifles free choice, let's not forget Samsung completely copied the iPad. Shouldn't violation in copyright be taken into account too?

What, you mean.

The different size and shape
The different screen resolution
The different CPU and chipset internally
The totally different operating system and user interface

The only thing they did "copy" if you want to use those terms if to make a rectangular touch screen device which has been the natural default shape for tablets for decades now, even before it was technically possible to make one.

I completely agree. I love my iPad but i see people on their galaxy tab every day at class and all i'm thinking is "look at this plastic thik crap with a weird screen size" im not thinking "omg this looks like an iPad" instead im thinking "thank god i got an ipad"

They r nothing alike, i dont even think android feels like iOS when u actually use it. So much to read and way too many menus to go through. instead of feeling "copied" it actually makes me appreciate going back to my iOS afterwards lol

Apple should be happy theres android, makes ppl realise how good iOS really is

I think you just answered your own question.

Global thermonuclear war

I'm with Apple on this. It's a poorly ripped-off product - the patents are pretty clear.

All you have to do is play with the inertial scrolling on Android tablets for a contrast to what Apple has done.

What, you say.

In the real world, a court made the decision and Samsung lost. This isn't between dMavo and Apple, it's between dMavo and the Australian courts. You seem to be in your own personal reality distortion field.

sounds to me like he is biting off more than he can chew. Probably got told too many times by his parents that the stuff he does is good when it wasn't :p

what a cocky little ****

Oh dear Apple.

Yes. ZERO.

The average consumer neither knows nor cares about these issues. They're only in it for the products. Which is the entire point.
The only person you are harming is the individual consumer, and the only person you are looking like a bully to, is the individual consumer.

Insane demand for Apple gear. 4 million iPhone 4S units sold in two days. The only harm here is consumers having to wait to get one once stock runs out at Stores near them.

Consumers can buy other tablets. Except they don't really want them.
Why don't you focus your efforts into making the best products you can, and win the hearts and minds of customers by making things they naturally want to sell,

Have you been on a different planet for the past few years (especially the past month)?
as opposed to trying to stop them having a choice in the 1st place.

They do have a choice. But the choice has to be fair, and needs to respect IP. The 12 consumers that want Galaxy Tabs can apply to the courts. Or something.
No one likes a bully and the only thing these things will do is create a negative imagine in the minds of normal people.

"Normal people" are falling over themselves to get more Apple gear. Apple can barely keep up with demand. They have been in litigation with everyone and their dog in this industry for years and "normal people" have been shoving their money at them the entire time. Because "normal people" don't give a sweet damn who is "bullying" who in the courts; they're in it for the products and then move on with life. THAT is normal.
Dear dear :(

Thinking like a concerned tech-head gets in the way of understanding market realities and everyday consumer behaviour.

Except a $500 tablet as a percentage of a TV price (let's say $1000) is _way_ more than a $500 tablet as a percentage of a +car+ (Audi? $30K or so on the lower-ish end?). Plus it's not the OEM (Apple) giving them away, your example sounds like some kind of Audi or dealer perk[?] to make up for lagging Audi sales.

Anyway, his point was, Samsung is even to the point of giving them away with a [Samsung] TV, diminishing what little profit there is in the TV market, to try to gain some traction.

It's not a bad play - especially if there's some kind of tablet-to-TV integration, but it's that kind of marketing tactic that's a pretty clear indicator of the product not moving very well.

This is a lot of effort and posturing to make what, $2 profit per unit? Heavily discounted electronics are hardly worth it, other than to get people to buy other stuff. Just ask Best Buy.

Also, this is good for the consumer. Competition is good.

In addition, after playing with both, I have to say that I find the Galaxy tab more useful and configurable than the iPad.

However, even as a diehard apple fan, I still find the whole iPad concept totally useless for 99% of people, especially with the cost of a MBA + USB LTE being not much more than an iPad (949€ vs. 799€).

I agree. I play with the iPads in stores and i could never think of a use for it. If i was going to have a tablet though it would be iPad hands down. the way iOS is integrated with the hardware, the looks and the general overall feel of the aesthetics is such an important role. Glass and aluminium ftw.

Why even bother posting if you're just going to lie? Seriously.

Oh but they will charge a premium for it because it's an "exclusive"...
