I posted this in another thread before but for some reason it didn't add the poll and was giving me issues when I tried to add it afterwards, so here is a new thread.

I was talking to a friend and he was telling me about an article he read that was saying you can tell the household income of someone within something like $25k based off the model they purchased and be right a majority of the time. I'm just curious if this has any truth behind it at all so I thought it might be fun to post a poll here.

Select the watch model and your income in the poll. (which is anonymous, btw)

This is the worst and most pompous post I have seen on this forum. Seriously... how much money do you make and what watch did you pick? Why don't you just buy which ever watch you feel comfortable with! Personally I don't see the need to waste a thousand dollars on something that will be outdated in two years! But if you have money to waste on a watch versus something like donating to a worthwhile cause I guess go for it! What ever helps you sleep at night.

Btw - not one persons has responded with their income - FAIL

I've read this book and I;m in the same boat as you. I could have purchased a home 4+ times the price I did but I didn't because I wanted to save money each month, buy things that I want, and go on vacations, etc. With that said, I think most people (90+%) buy exactly what they think they can afford so there will be a strong pattern for each model.

----------

Buying on credit has nothing to do with income. I don't see your correlation?

I am in your 10%. Bought the sport because it's an Apple 1st gen product and main purpose is to help with fitness so I have no desire to wear a stainless steel watch while I sweat and work out. Not to mention, I've already spent thousands on real watches and if I have to go to a special occasion, like a wedding, there's no way I'm putting this on no matter what edition I have. I have much nicer, more feminine looking watches.

This thread is stupid and pointless.

People everyday buy expensive stuff even if they don't make a lot of money. There is a justification for everything. Owning something expensive/cheap shouldn't define your class

He must work for Census

People aren't being honest.

More like an anti-vote

(3 people below poverty with the Edition? ) Thieves? Lunatics? :D

A little bit of a personal question, but I'll bite.

I'm a student working part time and my annual earning probably come out to around 12,000. I barely treat myself, so I wanted to save up some money and gift cards and I bought the Space Black Link Bracelet.

Actually, more than 100 people read the instruction and have responded. I wasn't asking for you to post your income in a response... I asked for you to respond on an anonymous poll.

Hahaha! Sorry, I find this post hilarious, no offence intended though!

The OP never mentioned class!
I'm going to guess you must be american to think class and income are the same. But perhaps that assumption is highly racist of me.

As I say, no offence, this just tickled me.

Another problem with the poll is cost of living is different for everyone.

Our cost of living in Wisconsin I would guess is quite a bit lower than someone in California (housing costs alone!). I would also guess, our income is lower due to that as well.

As for me, hubby and I each get an "allowance" every paycheck to spend however we like for personal wants ... I save mine all year, and have the money to buy new apple gadgets.

I'm glad you find it funny. But yes, Americans do classify income with class. Typically they go hand in hand. You make 12K a year you're low class citizen etc...

I did wonder about that, but was never sure. Is this really the case?

I've known and seen some rich people in the UK who are dirty, vulgar and utter slobs, 100% the lowest of the lowest class, but they have money.

I've also known lovely beautiful people, polite, caring, and a joy to be around that have hardly a penny.

I'd never link Money in the bank to class ever.

When I use "class" it's for classification instead of "classy". Americans classify income with low class, middle class, etc..

may I ask why you want this data? Persons income is personal data and if they disclose it, are you going to be capturing it?

It's one of those stereotypical (obviously racist and not true) things the UK sometimes views America as not understanding. I'm sure I've seen it in a comedy sketch. The idea that income and class are the same thing is not true in any shape or form, the joke is that Americans don't understand this or even what class actually is.

I'm obviously not saying I agree with this.

There are BIG differences I'm sure.

There was a TV program a few years ago about the homes of the very rich.

Richard Branson (UK) was there his island home, all quite rustic, stonework, quality but basic in an expensive way. Very nice.

They then moved onto a selection of American homes.
All utterly vile and tasteless.
Gold here, Marble there, Crystal Chandeliers all over the place.

Just as if someone went thru a catalog book and said, I'll have the most expensive thing of each type and throw them all in an expensive building and that's now classy.

Not one American home, on the show was tasteful and understated quality, it was all, tacky glamour and glitch designed to in your face show off wealth.

Why don't you just explain what it is your trying to figure out? What is your point here? I highly doubt anyone has responded to this post. But tell yourself whatever you need too.

Yeah, I got the Apple Watch Edition. I spent my entire annual income on it...What the hell, you only live once!

So the most common income bracket for the sport is $100k-$150k. The most common income bracket for the stainless steel is $100k-$150k. What does that tell you?

I'm not seeing much activity about the Edition models... Not only on this poll, but everywhere in general.

That's easy ... you don't BUY the Edition. You gift it to your mistress or you are a celebrity. Nobody walks around telling everyone that they bought themselves the Edition Watch.

It tells me that people with that much income have a profession that allows them to care about MacRumors while choosing a product of their preference.

If I wanted the Edition, this is what I would get instead: http://verygoodplating.com

Shouldn't take answers if people aren't buying it with their own money, that skews the information.

Class here is socio economic class and social class in the US is tied to your economics. Even to the point that those that are wealthier may look down on the poor if they don't look like trash because obviously they are gaming the system and not really poor if they don't look poor.

And I'm sure you also know the concept of old money vs nouveau riche which tends to be more showy. I assure you those homes aren't typical and my guess is they would probably belong to singers/sports stars because those tend to have the most showy display of wealth.

True or the purchase of the watch isn't tied to economics.
