What will the next AW be?

I can almost assure the readers that for at least five years Applw will not change the user interface in any substantial way. They will add features to the OS and design a lighter, slimmer and better power managed device, but the basic UI is written on our wrists.

I personally look forward to more speed and better battery life. I would also like to see auto time update via wifi or LTE without the need for an iPhone connection. Of course battery life again.

Yes, you are most likely correct as there is not much to be changed (at the moment). Once we get to the stage where we have holographic UI etc. then we will see drastic shifts. Until then its just baby steps towards the bigger future :D

I think Apple will stick with its current version - why create a round version that looks like the competition, not to mention all the current OEM and third party bands that won't fit a new design?
If they want more of a watch emphasis, most makers ( real watchmakers ) make square and and round watches. The design would have to use existing bands though to make sense.

I suspect we'll get Watch 2 (or whatever Apple calls it) this fall along with the next iPhone. I don't think they should release something just for the sake of it but the watch can be incredibly slow and if the main culprit is the S1 SiP then I think it makes sense to release a new watch with a new SiP. I don't think we'll see a round Watch anytime soon. I really think Apple exects believe the UX would be worse with a round display and it would have to be significantly larger (as most android wear watches are). Also none of the existing bands would work with a round watch so all the money people invested in bands would make them very unhappy campers. I think Apple will keep a design that is compatible with current bands for a while. Had Apple only released one model with a couple bands then maybe a new design would happen sooner.

I do hope they keep the $299 entry point when a new model comes out and then completely discontinue the first gen models. One of the reasons Apple's product lines look bloated and sometimes confusing is because they keep older models around after newer ones are announced. If Apple marketing data says there's a market for something under $299 then I hope they announce something different (ala iPod shuffle) rather than discounting the gen 1 watch.
