I also have a S6 and decided not to upgrade. The S6 is still compatible with watchOS 11, so I will sit out another year until an Ultra 3 is announced.
I am at mercy of when it becomes unusable. lol. I am in no rush, but battery is starting to become a problem. I usually have my iPhone for 6-7 years with battery replacement, but I don’t see it with AW.

At this point, the real deal breaker for every smartwatch is battery life. All other stuff is "nice to have" except for specific cases (blood sugar for diabetics, for instance). I'm disappointed that they made the S10 thinner (who was asking for that) but kept the same battery life.

My thoughts, interested to hear others:
Basically same design, thinner - good
New SiP 10 - good
No new health sensors - bad/disapponted
Jet black - love
Polished Ti - like it but also think SS is a watch classic and disappointed to see it go
Sleep apnea - great, uses accelerometer and also coming to S9/ultra2
Hypertension - disappointed that it’s not there

Ultra - love the black, but, it’s an Ultra2 (two) and doesn’t even have the S10 chip - major letdown

And for both, no mention of blood oxygen - very disappointed

Edit: title typos fixed
No new health sensors? The sleep apnea detection is going to be *huge*.

I chatted with a customer service rep, they seemed unsure if VO2max would be still available as part of the health features under cardiovascular fitness on the new Apple Watch. I know they had the legal issue w Massimo . Anyone have insight on this?

No new health sensors, has been mentioned in other posts that it is still in the specs as 3rd gen…
and sleep apnea has been described as relying on accelerometer, not blood oxygen, which is still banned in the US

As a someone who is not an attorney, Apple outright stole the blood oxygen technology. They need to just pay up. It's not that much. so darn cheap!

The whole presentation was lackluster overall. I have a midnight S7 and decided to upgrade to jet black S10 42mm. I normally do a 3 model cycle. Getting $105 for the S7 from Apple. Didn't think ultra was worth it for my lifestyle (where most of the activity is in the gym not outdoors).

I really have grown to dislike every Apple Watch that is not the Ultra. I just feel the Ultra looks and functions so much better with a flat screen and bezel guard.

It's pathetic that the aluminum Series 10 does not come with a sapphire screen. Even the Samsung Galaxy Watches do at this point.

Wish the Ultra came with a larger screen this year. It feels inevitable for next year.

Love the black Ultra. But I still think the natural looks just as good as well.

I would’ve been more tempted to upgrade to a black Ultra 3, but I’ll hold out still instead of getting the U2.

My Series 4 still lasts me long enough on one charge to get me through most 13 hour days away from home.

I was going to order the Ultra 2 in Black until I saw that it still had the S9 SIP (CPU) vs. the Apple Watch Series 10 having the S10 SIP. I'll wait another year.
🙄 I bet the Ultra 2 still performs better then the 10.

That’s what made me cancel series 10 order and buy ultra 2

How would performance be measured and compared in daily use? I'd be curious how you'd determine that.
I'm just gaugeing it from things i know.

The battery will last longer

Dual frequency gps

More nits

Better in the water, go deeper etc etc

Picky i know but..

I own a SS serie 7 black with Milanese loop but I want to upgrade. I’ve never liked the ultra because of the color but black is stunning.

Do the flat screen looks wider/larger/brighter than the other curved screens?

I’ve never loved the big bezel of my series 7, the ultra looks much more spacious even if the 10 has the same screen size.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance

I find it crazy that Apple didn’t increase battery life at all for the Series 10. The Ultra is the only Apple Watch that has acceptable battery life in my opinion. I refuse to charge my watch more than once a day. If they had bumped up the Series 10 to 24 hour battery life, I might have switched to it.

Yes, I find it confusing they would prioritise a slimmer design over extra battery, was it really too thick to begin with?
After getting the Ultra I never get charge anxiety any more.

Wow, $170 trade in value for a series 9 45mm. What a joke.
Why is this a surprise? Apple's brokering you turning your watch to a wholesaler who's then going to refurbish and resell it somewhere. That's going to net you pretty much the least amount possible.

You'll nearly always get more by selling it privately, via Swappa, or perhaps directly to a reseller.

Always been this way.

VO2max estimation doesn't depend on blood-oxygen sensor, but HRV instead. Apple was estimating VO2max well before they included a blood oxygen sensor, as do other wearables such as Garmin devices (also without blood ox)
