Cannot wait to upgrade my aws to a watch 2 steel edition. Why do so many people want a new design and seem to be so fixed on that? Imo the watch design is classy and not something we laugh about in a couple of years. Think for example about swatch watches - same design for decades, still rocks though.

Why do you want update to steel?

My main concern is if they have sales on the second generation this holiday season.

It would suck to get one and then barely 10 weeks later have them going for around $100 off.

I'm not planning on buying at launch for that reason. There will be at least $50 off at certain places, and Walmart of Bestbuy might offer $100 gift cards or what not. Either way it's only 1-2 months and you could save a decent amount, so I'm certainty waiting.

If the sport model was not matte, I think less people would consider upgrading to the steel.

The design is fine for what it is, and is not particularly bad looking at all (despite my dislike for square shaped watches, the rounded corners adds to a pleasant balanced look, with enough class). While the watch does not look partially chunky in person, if you can imagine what the next iteration of the design would be - you can see why people are waiting for the redesign.

They will not likely change the design, but rather further evolve it - it'll still likely be square with rounded corners, but likely to become even more tapered with much smaller bezels, and potentially much slimmer. It's going to be much more handsome imo.

If they don't go that route, then they will probably also produce a round model as an alternative.

I'm excited to see what they do with the Apple Watch but I won't be upgrading mine (42mm Stainless Steel) for a very long time. It currently does everything I want it to do well enough, however I look forward to the future speed increase and features new watches will bring.

I have a 42mm Sport and have no interest in upgrading at this point. It does what I need it to do. My sister on the hand is ready for this new watch.

I'm hoping that the AW2 improves the Siri voice interaction. Hopefully more responsive to my voice and more understanding.

I think that would just be a software thing, so I would expect any Siri improvements to be available to the original AW as well.

For the most part it seems like iDevices hear things pretty well (although the iPhone 7 is rumored to have an additional microphone), but it's moreso that Siri just translates it to something else, giving an incorrect response. That's purely software, and to be honest they have a ton of work to do with the on the iPhone too.

The most disappointing thing in the world is when Siri consistently picks up every word I said, and then responds with some nonsense that is not related whatsoever.

Perhaps some due to software, but some due to where the microphone is located and any other hardware improvements.

I'd assume they will add at least a second mic, at some point. If they add a camera, then I'd say they'll push the mic to V3. Only so many incremental additions they can make to a watch lol - and if there is one thing you can be sure to bet on with apple, it's incremental upgrades.

I am looking forward to the upgraded OS for the watch. From what I have seen in the "previews" of it, it will basically provide us with a new watch.

Also looking forward to seeing what happens to the price of the original  Watch when the next version is available, would like to get one for my wife

Looks like one mic that pushes out water. Cool.

Ok, the watch they should have waited for.

Typical :D

But it's relative. These won't become mainstream for a while anyway. Not until they cram in a phone.

But how close? Unless I missed it, no mention of a release date or even if it's this year... ?? Also Watch OS 3... still no release date?

Pre-order 9/11, available 9/16.

I believe watchOS 3 is available 9/13 but could be wrong.
