I am not blown away. This is my first smart watch. Do I have to give it time to wow me? I would probably have been just as happy with the AW3 at half the price honestly. I guess maybe it needs time for me to bond with it :)
I think you’ll grow to appreciate it over time. It isn’t a video game console or a phone where you are actively using it for hours at a time rather it’s the little interactions that showcase it best. At first I wasn’t sold and now I really am especially as I untether it from my phone and go for walks with just the watch. Had a 20 minute phone call last night on the watch while taking a walk. It provides a great deal of freedom from being tether to the phone. It also provides a lot of convenience in not needing to dig out the phone for certain things - Apple Pay is another thing I use all the time on the watch. Much better experience to the phone.

How would you think about the larger screen size, if you were in the market, comparing S3 vs S4?

I did upgrade to a bigger watch.

Series 2 38mm to Series 3 42mm

Screen size is perfect and so is battery life. 74% after 24 hours unplugged. Midnight to midnight. I go for a 5-8 hour walk every day. Last few days have been close to 12 due to it being sunny and in the low 80s... Michigan in mid October. ️ every feature is turned on.

When I have a route set in Maps, the Watch vibrates and sounds like a turn signal when I get close to a turn or exit.

I loooooove that feature combined with Siri saying when and where to turn. Takes awhile to remember which sound is which but it helps to avoid looking at the phone.

It sucks they won’t work with prepaid carries that the big 4 own... like Verizon Prepaid. If they did, I would’ve opted for that one.
It's almost like the carriers differentiate the discount prepaid and higher priced postpaid accounts by giving the latter more features and capabilities. Odd. :)

I think you don’t know what you got till it’s gone.

Just shipped away my S1 and messed with my dads S2. The infograph dial and larger screen is enough for me.

The Apple Watch is a huge multi tool, there is tons of features and capabilities, you may not utilize everything and It can be kind of overwhelming with choosing how you want to use it, but find what works best for you, for some it’s notifications, and others its the fitness capabilities, but I like that its an extension of my iPhone where I don’t have to have my iPhone with me all the time.

Maybe rather than giving it time to wow you, try going without it for a few days. When I first got my watch, I felt much the same way. It's cool, but... Over time (6 months), I grew to appreciate it more, but it was still always that really expensive thing on my wrist that I had a hard time justifying. It wasn't until I lost my watch that I realized just how badly I miss it.

The things I find I miss the most are 1) Unlocking my MacBook Pro & iMac automatically, 2) just checking the time, 3) I was getting far more exercise with it than without. It was weeks before I stopped looking at my empty wrist trying to find the time.

I'm not sure that you've spent enough time yet to really miss anything. But if you've been trying it for a week or two, it might be a useful exercise.

People have different expectations and needs. The Series 3 42mm impresses me. Biggest thing I care about is battery life. The 42mm is barely the right size for my small wrists. Anything bigger wouldn’t be a great fit on my wrist.

The Apple Watch isn’t a phone. It has unique features that you won’t find on any other smart watch. Just because it wows me doesn’t mean the Apple Watch won’t wow everyone else. OP: just depends on your expectations and needs. I would give it some time and see if it’s a good fit for you. My first Apple Watch was the Series 2 38mm. Took a bit for me to adjust because I came from a FitBit that would give me a 4 day battery charge but with a lot less features. I am now a forever Apple Watch person because nothing will intertwine better with the iPhone than the Apple Watch. Let us know what you are looking for and expect and we can help you figure out what you’d like best.

My Apple Watch Series 3 42mm is a lot closer to the FitBit battery life than my first one. Unplugged at 8 AM. It’s almost 7 PM. 89%. Used the same way every day. Going for my daily walk later so it will be used a little more but the Series 3 42mm is the best fit for me. Not for everyone else. New watches just needs some time to adjust to.

After laughing at the idea of owning an Apple Watch (I mean, what the hell did I need it for? I have my phone on me at all times, right?), I finally to the plunge and bought a Series 3 last June.
The fitness stuff alone has motivated me to be decidedly more active, to the point that I've started playing tennis again after 23 years, focusing on fitness in general, and have lost 37 lbs and feel like I'm turning back the clock.
All the other little things the watch does have also grown on me considerably.

It's really about how you decide to use it, in my opinion.

Now I also have a Series 4, am all in, and won't be looking back.

Awesome job!!! The Apple Watch is great for that. Just like you, I thought the Apple Watch was a product that was way too expensive for being a watch. I got a great deal on the Series 2 38mm and was very impressed. I upgraded to the Series 3 42mm last week and major improvement over the Series 2. Almost, if not double the battery life of my Series 2.

Motivated and still motivates me as well. 60 lbs lost since March of this year. I walk, every day. I make sure to go way beyond my step goal... at least 150% of the goal. Haven’t worked out in awhile but will be going back as it’s too cold to do a 4-6 hour walk outside. Gym time and then an hour walk after.

Keep up the good work!! Apple Watch is definitely worth it!!

I'm a pretty huge Apple fanboi, but TBH the Watch hasn't impressed me since its inception and I've never picked one up. However, with the introduction of the larger screen, and the new health related features, I decided to pick up a Series 4 to see what it was all about.

I gotta say, this is the watch I wanted (and expected) when Series 0 was announced. It's definitely not a must have item, but it is a life changer - by that I mean I find myself taking more walks, working out more, and generally moving around more, and drinking more liquids (WaterMinder) all because I'm trying to fill out these various rings and bio readouts on my Watch face's complications. Driving home today, I was thinking how amazing it is that these watches have complications that directly monitor your heart, or pull data from satellites to give you more data about the world around you. I bet earlier watch makers wouldn't have dreamed these advancements were possible with the old gears and flip displays.

The ability to take calls on the wrist, and even Walkie Talkie has been pretty fun too. As others have mentioned, it also makes other parts of life just slightly bit more convenient, though I'm sure there are still things that it can do that I'm not fully taking advantage of yet.

I haven't wore watches in over 25 years... but I just will stick with this in the years to come. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what else they can pack into this thing in the years to come.
