i was pretty shocked that after only a year I had to sell my AW4 (alum-GPS) for under half of what i paid.

Personally I don’t have the time or the energy to deal with private selling, so I always mostly just do an exchange at Apple but they literally offered peanuts for it. I’m just going to keep it until it falls apart.

resale values are bad, it's the major reason that I didn't update, plus not enough new features for me

Private selling is becoming a monumental risk more and more due to the amount of popularity with Apple products including fraud. I’ve made thousands off selling used Apple related things online over the years, and I’ve been fortunate where I haven’t had to deal with fraud, however; I would rather much trade in my device, even if that means I have to take a ‘hit’, I don’t lose my time or money, and I don’t know about anyone else in this thread, _my_ time_ is_ valuable_.

So pretty much mixed response as I expected haha. If I did upgrade I’d probably still try and get the AW6 next year.... with that I’m assuming it makes more sense to go with Aluminum? The resale values in the SS and Titanium seem to be pretty bad

I’m surprised it’s “mixed”. It should be unanimous in that it’s not worth upgrade from S4 to S5 at all.

The AOD is a worthy upgrade. The AW5 is my first AW, and it's only because it has AOD.

I recently upgraded from the S1 AW to the Nike + S4 AW. While making the decision I went to my local Best Buy to try on a demo and immediately knew I wanted the 44mm face size. What drove me to the Nike + S4 was simply the cost and additional watch faces exclusive to the Nike + AW. The AOD was not enough for me to pay more for what is ultimately the same exact watch in my opinion.

That being said, if you have the money and want the AOD then by all means, buy it. I don't think you can go wrong with either option at this point.

I traded my SS S4 and SBSS S4 for a Titanium S5 and a SBSS S5. Totally worth it to me.

@Otflyer

you have both the Ti and SBSS S5?

@Relentless Power

I strongly agree.

Any reason to think the Titanium will have a better resale value? Impossible to know I’m sure
