I start school on Monday. :( I'm not particularly thrilled because I need to read the last half of 1984 and all of the Alchemist by then, and I'm not looking forward to seeing my classmates. Plus, my sister doesn't return until February 1st, which makes it all the more painful.

When do/did you return?

I'm about 60 miles away from there....I go to the high school that rhymes with sullen.

oh nice i know which one you are referring to. i went to one that is a title of a john denver song haha

I went to a school which is an anagram of the answer to the following riddle:

"If there are no flowers on me, but I am in full bloom;
If I have no bark, but a ferocious byte;
When the sun sets, I will be free;
And imprisoned again in the light.
What am I?"

1984 and teh alchemist are great books! Enjoy them.

I go back on teh 16th :D but before then I still need to:

  • Write a letter to my ehadmaster
  • Write up a constitution
  • Get all my ducks in a row
  • Prepare mentally for my final year of school
  • Find out if I need to be at school early to help with orientation.

At least you don't work 50 weeks out of the year.

Edit: who am I kidding? I love my job. Sucker.

haha, indeed. :)

They told me that the college years were the best years of my life. I don't know about that... I don't think I enjoyed staying up all night to finish a paper due the next day. And now after 5 it's my time :) I don't have to bring my work home or anything. Plus I make enough so I don't have to eat frozen pizzas everynight.

Really though, I remember those days. I remember one year, here in Dayton, Ohio, the weather was so bad the day before going back after Christmas break that we didn't go back to school for like a month. We went back for one day, on a Monday and that day was cut short because of a ice storm coming in. I think in total we were off for about 4-5 weeks!

I'd love getting those kind of breaks again! Cherish them :p

Get the best of all worlds .... become a teacher .. :)

I think this is one of the big things I'm looking forward to after I get out of the service and into teaching. It certainly isn't the pay :p It will be nice having the guaranteed holidays off. Almost sounds like a dream :)

I'm flying back to U of Toronto tomorrow, Shanghai time. I'll arrive around 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan 6th, and I have classes the very next day at 9 am! Bah-humbug! Couldn't they open the dorms earlier so we can have some downtime?! The stress is never-ending at U of T. :rolleyes: I'll have so much crap to do as soon as I get back, too.. Unpack.. clean up.. see everyone... go out to dinner... get ready for the next day... distribute late Christmas gifts & cards... then die.

I had to go on the third as well.

I hate my school system. The idiots, instead of having us go the Friday before Christmas and then not go back until Monday, gave us Friday off and made us go back the 3rd, while all my friends/relatives in other school systems don't go back until Monday.

But this is also the same corporation that has our semesters end...on Friday the 11th, a week after we get back from a 2 week break. Now I know that now that the high school's on trimesters it really doesn't matter because their exams won't be until February anyway, but still...its idiotic.
