Ugh. I had to go back Jan. 3rd. I don't know what it is about school. I sometimes am excited when I get up in the morning, but by the time I get back on the bus to go home I feel so worn down. Seems like every HS student here had to read some kind of book. I had to read Jane Eyre, mostly 430 pages of yawn. I started in mid December and still hadn't finished it by Thursday when it was supposed to be read. Only one person in the class finished the book.

I moved into my condo Friday the 4th and Classes start on Monday the 7th. This will be my first term at Ai York and I'm really excited. :D

I have a sh**load of work to do tommorow (sunday).
1. Finish reading English novel "Wish You Well" a good 200 pages left (not too bad)

2. Catch up on Math, because I have HUGE ass test on Tuesday

3. Make a weeks worth of radio program for my school. Thank freaking god for Garage Band.

4. Start doing preliminary work for a huge Civics project worth 15% of my mark

5. MEmorize lines for Drama.

6. Organize binders, they're a ****ing mess.

7. Fill out job application

8. Start programming project, worth 15% (not due immedietly)

9. Setup PC for my Brother (Effing pc's)

10. Some other English crap i forgot to mention above.

So got one day to do all this before school.
Might not seem a lot, but trust me, my procrastination will get the best of me.

Here's what I need to do in the next 30 hours:

>Read 100 pages of The Alchemist-- I can probably read 50 tonight and 50 tomorrow night

>Finish last half of 1984 and write paper (all by Thursday, but I should get working on it)

>Thank god for no geometry work.

>Je dois mon devoir avec 95 mots pour mon cours de français.

>I have a massive history busywork packet I should've started tonight, but I can't now... I hope I can do it all tomorrow.

>I'm not sure if I have anything due for Speech class--- I sure hope not.

>Clean up my Christmas boxes.

>Clean up New Year's decorations (still!)

>I need to reorganise my papers as well. I use manila file folders instead, and I design my own sheets for the assignment book, so I'll probably get distracted designing new ones when I still have 2-3 weeks left of blank ones.

>Take my sister's broken PowerBook G4 back to the Genius Bar with my dad because he doesn't believe the genius who told me and my mom that it'd be $1100 to repair.

>Clean out my wallet

>Stop procrastinating (it will get the best of me, too.)

I don't go back until the 14th. But, I'm leaving tomorrow to head back to college to work the week before classes start, which is our busy time. I work at the university's IT helpdesk, and people seem to forget their account passwords over winter break. They use them every day, then go 4 weeks without using it, and it's completely gone from their memory. Not to mention all of the new transfer students moving into the dorms who don't seem to understand the concept of taking an ethernet cable, plugging one end into the computer and the other end into the jack on the wall to get online

Anyways, I can't wait to go back. I'm dreading all of my classes, they're all the freshman ones I put off, which means I won't have anyone I know in those classes, and it will be all annoying freshman who either think they're so cool because they're in college, or they're just so clueless and have no idea what the hell is going on. But I still want to get back because I graduate in May, so with this being my last semester of school for the foreseeable future, after going nonstop from kindergarten all the way through 4 years of undergrad without any year long breaks in between or anything like that, I just want to get it over with as soon as possible. Honestly, if I could not have a winter break and get the hell out of there 4 weeks sooner, I'd do it in an instant. Hand me my diploma and I'll hop in my car, drive far, far away and never look back on this tiny hick town in the middle of rural Missouri.

3:25 AM and I'm not really tired at all. Although I probably should get to bed, I need to drive back to school tomorrow, so I need to be awake for at least 2 hours. Falling asleep at the wheel and wrecking my 2 and a half week old car doesn't sound like a good idea for some reason.... ;)

I'm planning on doing this once I do a little run through my career in the industry. I applied to be a teacher but didn't get it since I just graduated, even though my university lecturer was 21 and had just graduated when I started!

I can bet there's so much job satisfaction from teaching.
I retired from teaching a year ago.

Teaching is rewarding most of the time, but as one of my colleagues used to say:

"Teaching would be a great job if we didn't have students !!!" .....

I head back to the U on monday... At least I have one course to look forward to this term, the super easy (at least for me) intro to C++ course...

Worse than back to school!

Back to work tomorrow after over 2 weeks, barring 6 hours, off! :(

I know...I was just thinking last night that I'm more nervous to go back tomorrow than I was for the first day of school.

You guys have it easy :p

1984 is a great book. At least you don't have to read about the menstrual cycle. But yes, I know how you feel; returning to school always sucks.
