I second that. It absolutely doesn’t matter how many times I tell AM i hate rap and hip-hop, sure enough There will be a few tracks of that genre on my new music mix playlist.
With great power comes great responsibility
You guys get that that whole Bieber line is just them selling the quality of their algorithm, right? Since he's probably the most successful social media discovery. It's pretty dumb to assume Apple bought the company to fulfill some marketing slogan of theirs.
No it's not. There's lots of amazing music being released, never before so easily accessible.

Nobody wants another Justin Bieber.
Looks like it’s worse than this. The article mentions that “The platform pulled data from social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram [..] to find hidden talent”. This likely means that at least part of the algorithm weighs things like demographics, social trends, social media interactions etc. It’s got nothing to do with music (Hence the part about the next “Justin Bieber”).
Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. But imagine what you could do if you could find him first.![]()
if only the places I frequent would warrant such theme. Probably normal life in Apple's neighbourhood. It's trying to soundtrack your life; The range would be incomplete if it couldn't provide the 'bad guy' theme, or 'gang battle' backgounds.
You think you hate it, you don’t know you secretly love it, after hearing it 50x from radio. Then you start to thing it is not bad and down the drain you go.
Repeating is a mother of brainwashed wisdom.

That is why I use only a really small generator
That should be amazing that we can avoid the next one as early as possible.

You may have a point but my head is so close to exploding the moment one of those crappy tracks starts. by the time I have listened to a full song, I am likely dead.

You're assuming most people over 30 didn't loathe Queen when they were a thing.I'd love a service that would let the world discover the next Freddie Mercury.

I dont understand why Apple didn't acquire Pandora. Its algorithms and ability to point you to new music is so eerily correct. I may subscribe to streaming services like Spotify but those are mostly music I know about. I still keep a subscription to Pandora to get new recommendations that none of the other streaming services seem to do as well even and especially Apple Music.
