Azureus is Crapppppp

I have tried to stay with Azureus for the last several months, but have finally reached my wits-end. It has crashed Leopard within ten minutes of loading for the sixth time today. The crash report to Apple always points to the same problem: Azureus running under the mac version of Java (itself not the most stable or user friendly of programs).

I will try the suggestion of removing wireless from the equation and see if that makes a difference. If not it's history. You might want to try uTorrent. They just recently released a version for Mac OS 10.5 and higher. It's what I will use if I'm forced to give Vuze aka Azureus the heave ho.

Will let you all know if the wireless was the conflict.

Regards

Oops, I haven't been keeping up to date with what's been discussed here for a long while, my bad.

Thank you all so much for your posts, they really helped me a LOT :D

I tried Transmission for a while, but to tell you the truth, it sucked. It was REALLY slow. I googled around and people mentioned that it might be because Transmission isn't all that popular and certain torrent sites don't approve it? Something along those lines...

So I gave in to Azureus, or rather known as Vuze now, and have been using it every since, despite the fact that I hate all the extra little (more like big) features that come with it. Like the whole library thing. Is there any possible way that that can be sort of switched off? I've pretty much gotten used to it, but just wanted to see what my options were.

I haven't experienced any KP with Vuze, at least not that I can recall. Might be 'cause I open Vuze on another user with sometimes a few Safari pages open, and mostly work on another user. Could that be it?

Yes, it does take a longer time to quit than most applications. Sometimes it even gets a little stuck, but I think that's just the whole computer getting slow and struck once in a while.

Also, I've read that for Vuze to operate to its full speed and connection, I should find out the best port number for me to use? I don't understand that. I 'sort' of get it, but very vaguely.

Referring to Mr Black's post, I can't say if it's the wireless or not, but I use wireless and my AirPort is just fine. Can't totally say though, because as perfect as Mac may be in comparison to PC, each computer has different kinks to another, so... Sometimes, my AirPort does get a little confused and refuses to connect even though the modem itself is connected perfectly, but that doesn't happen very often, and is easily remedied.

Anyway,
Merry Christmas everyone! :D

Try opening the preferences then go into the interface settings to open the UI Chooser I believe it is in the start option. It is kind of ugly compared to the new interface when using the old but it gets the job done.

Never had any problems with it.

I think it is just trying to free up its open connections so it takes a little time for it to get that done.

You don't want to be using any of the standard bittorrent ports those are all pretty much blocked. What I do is pick a popular windows game and use its default online port, hard for the scumbag ISPs to be blocking that one works well.

Anyway,
Merry Christmas everyone! :D

You too.

when i was using torrents i used tomato torrent, never had a problem with it, very basic but it works.:)
