Honestly wasn't expecting this at all. Don't even know what to say lol

----------

If today's release showed anything at all it's that there is no pattern that can be expected.

There definitely was a pattern for three betas straight, but oday's release just tells us they aren't following it anymore. :)

I don't know if it was a pattern then, just something we found that fit the release dates, but that doesn't necessarily mean there was an actual pattern behind it all.

Oy. You know what I noticed. No Beta 6 threads yet!
Beta 5 took everyone by such a surprise they forgot that they need to start figuring out what's going on with beta 6 already. ;)

Iphone 4

Que Beta 5 - "OMG, have they change the icons yet?"

smh!

I have a question about my Iphone 4. I live in Canada but go to school in America. Im getting an Iphone 4 with a company called koodo and am going to unlock it. The sim card is HSPA and my company in America is Straight talk. I wanted to know if the Straight talk sim card will work on my iphone 4? Thanks

There is no regular 2-week schedule, and beta 4 was not late. It was simply a 3-week wait instead of 2 (very common in previous betas). It had nothing to do with the dev site being down, as shown by them still releasing the Mac OS beta that day.

It was suppose to release a week before but because the Developer Center was down it was delayed. Apple even said it was delayed.

Are you just making this stuff up? Serious question. I have no idea where else you could be getting this info from.

If anything I think last weeks release shows that Apple feels there is more, not less work left to do. I expect we'll see more beta's for 7 than 6. I also think that unlike last year, the GM won't be seeded until after the keynote. My hunch is that there's still a big reveal Apple is holding back until then. I'm thinking circular icons on the home screen, just my opinion though.

The GM is always seeded the day of the Keynote announcement...and we have had no word of an announcement yet, therefore we cannot determine a deadline, and we could likely see more than 6 betas. BUT this also depends on the expiry dates. Usually we know a GM is close if two or more of the last betas share the same expiry date.

The GM and announcement will most likely be the first week of September. Which means Apple will technically have it ready in the next 2 weeks internally to go on the new iPhones. So probably we will see beta 7 by the end of the month. From what Ive used of beta 5, its very very smooth on my 4S and very little crashing so we are getting to a comfortable point with most of the OS.

Now the iPad is a different story, there seems to be a lot of work to do and Im quite frankly a little scared at how "blown up" apps like calendar and music look on the iPad. All this while they publicly make fun of Android tablets for the same behavior. At least iOS 6 had VERY different apps like Calendar, music that didn't feel like stretched iPhone apps. It feels like an afterthought which is sad.

iOS 6 was seeded a full week prior to the keynote
