I'm excited about this. I have like.. a super old iPod classic with only 30GB so I'd love to finally get a new one. Too bad I only have $1,000 saved so far. Argh. Why do MBP have to be so ridiculously expensive. D:

IT IS NOT TOO LATE FOR ANYONE WHO ALREADY BOUGHT THE MBP within 14 days you could still purchase the BTS ipod touch deal :)

i bought the mbp last wednesday, but didn't purchase an ipod at that time. i just read that they had to be purchased at the same time, is this true? i also didnt get my mpb with the education discount and bought in store.

Do you happen to live in Connecticut or Rhode Island? I read that the deal is automatically applied to people who are having their items shipped to these locations.

That's really strange... I do live in Connecticut, but I wonder why Apple does that for those 2 states. I'm not sure why they wouldn't do that with my printer tho...

Bought a MBP at the Apple Store in West Hartford, CT tonight, and yes, the iPod came off the bill, no rebate, but the printer I had to pay for. I got a 16 gb Nano, so the education discount showed up on my receipt as $279. I would guess it has to do with it being for educators/students, and because the printer is a deal for everyone, the CT (and RI) law doesn't cover that in terms of rebates.

Did you get a canon printer? You can choose printers. Online, if you didnt want the epson printers, go for other printers. Since you bought it in person, I'd thought I ask. :)

UK BTS is up:

iPod Rebate Amount
iPod Touch £130
iPod Classic 160 GB £130
iPod Nano 16 GB £120
iPod Nano 8 GB £100
iPod Shuffle 4 GB £55
iPod Shuffle 4 GB (Stainless Steel) £65

I'm confused...

The UK Back to School promo has gone live, but from what I gather, it's not a FREE iPod Touch; just a £130 rebate. With the cheapest iPod Touch being £152, there's a difference of £22.

To be fair to Apple, it doesn't explicitly say 'Free' but I can't help wondering whether people will automatically think it's free and get confused when their rebate comes in. £22 isn't a lot to pay, but it's a bit annoying for students strapped of cash :p

Agree with this - was just thinking it myself. Certainly not complaining, and will be taking advantage at the weekend, but it is slightly confusing.

But well pleased they are offering this!

My problem now though, is this...

I'm going away mid-June and won't be coming back until a week or so after the promotion has ended... I wasn't going to keep the iPod Touch anyway as I plan on getting the new iPhone in September when I get back.

Do you think I should get the laptop before I go away, store it for 3 months and sell the iPod? Or just wait and get the laptop when I get back. I reckon it will most probably be the latter... £100 would be nice, but I suppose it seems stupid to buy it and store it straight the way for the sake of £100. Besides, something better might come along in the future ;)

I got the HP Photosmart or something one.

Does the student discount apply to ipods too? I can't check atm cause I'm not on the uni network but if it does then it will work out at like £129.10 anyway... Just not sure if it applies or not

In Europe you have to pay the VAT of the iPod yourself it seems. As USA doesn't have VAT, they get their iPod touches for free. So you kinda only get the rebate for the price of the iPod without VAT.

It does if you buy a Mac laptop or desktop. You can put the £130 rebate towards most Ipods and pay the difference.

even with discounts...this back to school promotions is still exspensive!

I don't know how other students could afford this. I'm not asking my parents or taking out a loan for it.

I would have to work 2 jobs just to save up and get a macbook pro.

Greetings

i'm looking to buy a macbook pro soon. i would like to purchase online using my sisters educational discount. now would it be a problem if i use my debit card?, for my sister has no debit/credit card.

i'm sort of worried that her discount and using my debit card would clash while i'm ordering or in the long run and cause issues.

thank you much,

My father used his credit card for the purchase and I payed him back for my half (we split the price).
Once you sign on to the Education store, they don't even ask once for school, name of student, or anything like that. It's just a regular purchasing process.
I don't know what will happen down the road though.
I heard that they do random auditing.

alright. thanks for the feedback

i was hoping they would take down her info., so later on they wouldn't be no problems, if any.

I just ordered a new Macbook Pro & iPod Touch in the UK but it says it won't be delivered until atleast the 11th June?

Is this because I wanted a few customisations or because WWDCs on the 11th and they're planning on sending a new iPod? :)

I ordered mine's (Macbook Pro and Ipod Touch) yesterday and they have just emailed to say it will be here tomorrow!!!:) I'm sure it is because of your customisations!

my iPod Touch came the day after I ordered, the printer is coming today, and the macbook pro (15'' HR AG) is supposed to come June 3rd. This is going to be a long week between now and then.

But what I don't get is that it says that it ships within 3 days but will be delivered between 11 Jun, 2010 - 14 Jun, 2010? It probably is just the customisations, but it got me thinking...

I just ordered my macbook pro online. I didn't print out the confirmation. I wrote down the order number. Now, I didn't see anything for rebates to the printer or the iPod Touch? Where am I supposed to find that at?
