I'm still a little confused. So all I have to do when the offer starts is buy a Mac and an iPod touch at the same time, and the iPod will be free?

Also, how will they even know I'm a college student?

If you buy it in the Apple store, you will have to purchase a Mac computer and an iPod at the same time. You will have to fill out a rebate form to get the 200 dollar credit off the iPod you select. At the time of the purchase, you will pay for the cost of the Mac and iPod, and will receive a rebate check from Apple after you mail it in. Also, if you buy in the store, the employee will ask to see your college ID. If you buy online, you have to agree to the terms and conditions of the education store and check a box saying that you are a student (or teacher in my case). As long as the iPod and Mac are on the same invoice if you purchase online, you are eligible for the 200 dollar credit.

Alright, so how do I get this rebate form? I plan on ordering online. Sorry, I'm very new to this.

Also, if that's all you have to do to prove you're a college student (online), couldn't anyone get the offer?

OMG I hope it's this week too. I've been eyeing a 2.66 ghz stock + a LG LED TN 22 inch monitor. A free iPod touch wouldn't hurt to be sold so I can get myself that monitor.

Woo, starting college in 3 months, I can't wait!

Can you get the student discount as well as get the free ipod?

I bought mine last summer while still in high school. I went online, found the education discount store, and indicated which college I was planning on going to. After adding everything to the cart, I received $100 off the MacBook Pro, a free 8gb iPod touch, and a free $100 printer. Totally worth waiting until summer for...

Stars tomorrow?

I have no idea if the girl at my local college book store tech shop knows what she is talking about, but I asked her if there were any details on the BTS promotion for this year and she quickly cut me off and said "Come back tomorrow". I was confused at first and when I started to ask for clarification she quietly replied "you should come back tomorrow".

So there you go. No idea if this is real or not, but her response of telling me to wait a day to buy a computer seems suspicious.

Clairification

So if you buy it in the store, the iPod and printer are rebates, but if you buy online, the credit is applied instantly, no waiting for a rebate?

Hmm if the promo does start tomorrow...do you think it will be advertised on the Apple site at 12 AM tonight/tomorrow morning?

Ah, ok, thank you. I thought that's how it went. Hopefully tomorrow is the day. Just to make the final decision of 13 vs 15

Here's how it worked for me (buying online): The MacBook Pro showed up in my cart as $100 cheaper, but I had to pay for the iPod touch and printer full price with the computer, in the same cart online. I paid for the whole thing, and then a few days later filled out 2 online forms found on apple.com/promo for the printer and ipod. 2 weeks later I received 2 checks from apple, one for $100, and the other for $229 (last year's touch price). Pretty easy.

Benefits of buying online: i got to customize my MacBook Pro, engrave the iPod, a greater selection of printers, and I never had to leave my house :)

So can I use the Ipod rebate to get a $200 discount on a 32GB Ipod Touch or do I have to use it to get a free 8GB Ipod Touch?

And is it still possible to get a free printer on top of all this?

Yes, you can take $200 (or $220, I think it is) off the 32GB touch and yes. :)

Just to clarify, they'll send me a check that I can deposit into my bank checking account, not a credit that must be spent at their store right?

Thanks for all the info.

It's going to be tomorrow. I can envision it being posted on the website as the good Jedi I am. Patience my boy, patience. Use the force. :D

If I get the 13" MBP, should i get it with a Ipod touch or ipod classic? Considering I have all the stuff in my signature :D. If ipod touch, should I go for 32gb or just stay with the free 8gb? I already have the 8gb from last BTS sale :D
