So my 2010 MacBook Air finally died out on me, and I need a new laptop fairly soon. However, I'd be willing to wait an extra week or so before buying one if the Back To School Promotion would be launching soon. Which leads me to my question: Does anyone have any thoughts as to when the program might launch?

Discussion about the US promotion was in this thread (about 8 threads below yours) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/back-to-school-sale-in-usa.1895241/

Not much there, though.

My daughter's MacBook seems to have died today. RIP. Now she needs a new one for college starting in August and I'd rather not miss whatever promotion Apple has ready to roll out. I can't find a hint of a whisper of a bit of gossip about a rumor regarding a back-to-school promotion.

How about it, folks? Anybody see anything anywhere?

Most likely start next few days or week.

2011-16th June
2012- 11th June
2013- 2nd July
2014- 1st Jul
2015- ?

Last year it went live just before 1PM PDT so we've still got a while to wait today; my guess would be later today or tomorrow unless Apple breaks with tradition.

Thanks Aaron, I was looking for some kind of info on when it might start, since I'd need a new laptop soon. I guess they're busy launching Apple Music now, so I hope BTS starts in the next few days.
Employees at Apple Stores know nothing about it (apart from "Yes, there was this promo last year, come back mid-August"), so the only option is to wait.

Yes, I'm going to wait for it to start too before I get a new rMBP, a £100 Apple Store voucher would be very useful towards a new iPhone 6S in September.

I have been waiting for this promotion to upgrade as well. in fact, i am going back to school this september for real :)
it's also a good idea to use the voucher towards applecare plan. you need to purchase the computer and plan separately to be able to use your voucher though.

I ended up just budging and bought one today. I figure that if the promotion goes into effect sometime within the next two weeks I can just return this macbook and buy another one.

I'm also waiting. I want a PowerBook Pro to teach with in Aug. I hope it starts soon because I want time to set it up and have it ready for our first day which is Aug. 3rd. I hope Apple knows that schools start in August in the west!

A little disappointed that B2S promotion didn't go live today been looking forward to it for a while though so I got my hopes up! Hopefully tomorrow!

I would find it highly unusual if it didn't launch today especially based on historical dates. Apple usually stick to their annual schedules based on iPhone and iPad launches etc.

I wonder if, given the recent new iPod rumors, they will target Tuesday, July 14th when the new iPods are released and offer them as part of promo (like they did in the old days). Someone on reddit pointed out that the last two back to school sales were started on Tuesdays (July 1st last year, and July 2nd in 2013) so July 14th also being a Tuesday makes some sense.

I wouldn't count on iPods instead of gift cards, but 14th might actually be a valid option, especially as Apple doesn't update their store website too often. Or BTS might start just at the beginning of next week. Some US universities start in August, so Apple should not wait too long if they are actually introducing this promotion.

The longer this drags out (I've been waiting since June based on previous launch dates), the more I'm considering waiting for the Skylake rMBP.

My iMac will suffice for the time being, however long it takes, but the portability of the rMBP would be indispensability useful.

All we can do is wait, but that voucher does appeal. It all depends on what form of discount they offer I suppose.

Guess it's nice, but I hope they still have the gift card option. Have no need for an ipod and would really rather have a $100 gift card to go towards applecare on my new rMBP.

Exactly; it would be a massive nuisance to have a useless device with an out-of-date processor from 2011 and have to spend time trying to sell it on eBay. I'd rather just have the gift card.

Yeah last few years have been the first Tuesday of July so hoping they following that trend.
