Antenna is different then getting a phone that looks like someone dropped it a few times brand new in the box. Antenna is a design issue, this is just poor craftsmanship. I understand there are always Quality control issues but that is unacceptable.

Obviously the antenna is different but you brought up Steve Jobs for no reason as most people do when something isn't right. My phone was flawless out of the box as I'm sure hundred of thousands of peoples were. They all aren't posting here to say so. I can understand if your phone is dented as I would exchange that also myself, but a nick the size of a pinhead and people cry "QC issues this phone is terrible! I need a replacement now omgz!" I'll never understand those type of people. They are the ones that make retail jobs hell.

I was thinking that was a user to user discussion forum to air opinions, views, help and tips

I give you props for your patience. But I'm going to test it again :).

If you made your decision, what is the purpose of coming here and telling apple fans that you aren't buying it? Do you want us to convince you to change your mind? Why would we want to discuss why you aren't buying it? Most of us did and couldn't be happier.

Its not about patience its about healthy discussion.

Ive been following other threads on here and other forums and actively joining them and talking about buying this iPhone.

Your reply could be adhered to a great percentage of threads on here.

I need no convincing nor have i asked for any.

Nor have i at any time suggested that people should not buy into this product wether they be apple fans or not.

I was just sharing my journey and i'm sorry if that has irritated you in any way.

Their are threads from people saying how brilliant their purchase is and how its the best phone ever. Have you replied to them saying why do we need to discuss this ?

If Samsung or some other non apple manufacturer had some of these basic issues the same people who defend apple would be crushing Samsung or Nokia.

Lol.

An 02 guru is a little like an apple genius.

Itwas not me talking to one i was just listening into an ongoing conversation.

care to elaborate please ?

Oh I get it. Yeah, see the second sentence and buy what is right for you.

*travels back in time to 1980*

"Oh hey guys, let me tell you about this electronic device we have in the future. It's a device that the size and weight of a pocket notepad. It allows me to converse with anyone, anywhere on the planet, anytime I wish, all without wires. It also gives me instant access to virtually all knowledge of mankind.

The device has a 4" TV screen, which itself is about the thickness of several sheets of paper. I can watch virtually any movie or TV show at my leisure, and at a resolution at least four times what you see on your TV now. I can also record my own photos and movies, as many as I wish, as many times as I wish, all without film. It is powered by a battery that I only need to charge every few days.

Anyone off the street can walk into any number of stores and buy this device for a measly $800, which is equal to about $270 of your dollars."

*citizen of 1980 stares in disbelief* "Holy crap! That's amazing! Can I see it?"

"No, sorry. I didn't buy one because it had a few minor nicks along the edge."

Wow that was witty, when I buy a new product i expect new. If you enjoy spending money on things with defects by all means. Your levels of expectations are obviously lower than mine. So technically if your phone has a nitch and or scratches out of the box it could be worth less than someone who hasn't had such issues, and you could have both paid the same. You must be in business for a while.

a guru?
You need to make the decisions that are best for you.

lmao!

I already have mine in black, no marks but most likely going back. The casing is way to fragile for £529 and that's the cheapest one. I believe the phone is well built, just that cosmetically it will be cover in scratches. Yeah, a case, but I don't like cases it defies the point of a thin, light design.

Wait till october when the better batches arrive. You'll get a flawless one out of the box but you'll still have to be extra careful not to chip away the shoddy paint job.

The point I'm trying to make is that the shoddy paint job shouldn't be there, it should be a great paint job for the price paid.

I agree completely! My white iPhone 5 looked very good out of the box (not perfect, but very good works for me). I put a Speck case on it. I am going to take it off tonight. If the paint comes off...the phone is going back. Period. I am going from a 4 to the 5 and the difference in speed is amazing. However, I might have to wait awhile longer for Apple to get the production process right.

My husband has a black iPhone 5. His phone looked great out of the box (only found one small nick). We put a case on his phone as well. I am so nervous to see what happens when we take the case off of his phone tonight. My being nervous about removing cases in fear of removing paint is simply wrong. I have never worried about anything like this, but things are different this time. The exterior quality of the iPhone 5 is very different.

We paid $399 per phone. That is a lot of money. I am really hoping that my fears are laid to rest tonight. I agree with the OP. Healthy discussions are a good thing.

I know and I agree with you. That's why I haven't bought one yet. Poor design choice for a phone. But some of the scratch test videos hold up well against a key or a coin so maybe some models the paint hasn't been applied properly.
