Mine made it to about 4.5 hours before it died. I charged it at work without use then only used it for a phone call. Maybe checking email once or twice. I am down to 80% and 54 minutes usage, 6 hours 13 minutes standby.

I can never get more then 5 hours of use and about 12 hours of standby. Right now I'm at 36% 3 hours 2 mins and about 9 hours of standby is this normal or should I take it in. isnt tomorrow the last day to exchange for pre ordered? My battery drops fast as soon a I turn it on but standby ill lose about 1% a hour

The geniuses will a lot of times hook your phone up to the diagnostic to check the battery. Some will just freely replace it based on your complaint but most likely they will test it first and guess what? If it checks out "ok" on their diagnostic they will most likely not replace it and tell you to disable all your "smartphone" settings.

I have to disagree on that, you bought a smartphone to use a smartphone, not turn off all the settings, and plenty of people are getting great battery life with all smartphone settings on, you should get what you pay for

I have used mine for 2hr 30 min
Standby is 12hr 47min ( i do have to sleep and left the phone on )
Battery is at 63% left on Battery.

Pretty good by me and since today i will be using and talking since im off work.

I was out today and away from the charger which is rare for me. Only thing I did was turn off location services and left everything else on(two email accounts set up as exchange, icloud and gmail with a third added about halway through the day). Right now sitting at 30% wiith 3hr 10min of usage and 13hrs standby. I think that's pretty darn decent.

Didn't read the topic, but I would say this is absolutely true. My battery life improved significantly after I exchanged my phone out. I had a max of 5 hours and thats only if at least an hour of that was me playing pandora. Now I use it the exact same way but get much better battery life

Never assume.

The first 4S I bought for my wife had horrible battery life. Took it in, the genius replaced it.

The new one is so much better it's shocking.

Will Apple replace the battery if the 4S was purchased through Sprint? Thanks.

Exchanging a phone for another gives you a 50% probability that you'll get the same defective battery issue or one that solves the battery issue. Not sure how people are able to exchange their phones with phones that solve the battery issues instantaneously. What makes these new phones different from the original (new) phones that were purchased prior?

One of the joys of owning an iPhone is that Apple will honor the warranty no matter where you bought it from (this includes eBay). As long as the phone is still under the 1year warranty and the problem is covered under the warranty, Apple will replace it no questions asked.

So will apple replace after the return date? Because arnt launch day bought iPhones 14 days up tomorrow?

Not true. My battery life was horrific (worse than yours, by far) and it somehow it improved by 300% overnight and haven't had an issue sense. Better battery life than my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.x.x or 5.0 betas.

Just wanted to add my two cents. My 4s (which was purchased factory unlocked at full price from Apple Canada online) had terrible battery life and constant/repeated loss of 3G signal. I followed all the usual troubleshooting steps, including restoring as a new phone and swapping the sim. I took it to the "genius" bar yesterday. They ran their diagnostics and told me that the battery was functioning normally. They thought the constant signal dropouts were due to a software problem and insisted that they would be fixed by doing another restore (which I had already done). They refused to exchange the phone, even after I spoke to a manager. What I landed up doing was buying a brand new 4s in the store and returning my original 4s online ( the store refused to accept a return of the phone because I had bought it online). It appears that my new 4s (even after one night) is vastly superior in terms of battery life, even though I restored it from the backup of the old 4s which was running "corrupted software" (according to the "genius"). This is my longwinded way of agreeing that replacing a phone with bad battery life might be the only way to solve the problem, and I am not convinced that the battery problem is software-related.

I had the exact same problem with my phone except two things. One I bought my phone at launch on a store second my battery wasn't so bad but the signal was abhor issue. I brought it back to the store the other day they ran diagnostics said there was no issue. I said that is great that you don't see an issue but there is something wrong with the phone. She agreed and replaced it on the spot. My replaced phone has none of the same issues as before and the battery is much better. The apple tech (not a genius) admitted that they had a bunch of launch phones come back for replacement due to similar issues.
