Bad News For AT&T Orders Placed After 4pm EST

Crap....I order mine around 7pm through att...oh well I guess I'll just stick it out with my iphone 4....still running good...

Its likely that store orders were not processed until close of business and thats why the store quoted a longer delay.

I would never order in a store when there is an ordering website. Also, why did you wait so long to order. You could have got up at 8AM ordered online from home, and you'd get a phone on Friday.

The general concensus online was that ATT orders after about 4 PM on Friday would not arrive by 10/14.

I ordered a black 16G from Apple around 11pm at Oct 7th.
And my phone is sitting in Lousville, KY right now.

The story is I started looking on Apple.com at 9pm that evening. Somehow Apple just couldn't remember my apartment number in the shipping address. So I switched to AT&T website and tried to order from them. But they showed me a warning dialog while I was placing the order saying that I might have to wait for 1 or 2 weeks later due to the high demands. So I decided to switch back to Apple and place my order there. Turns out I can modify the shipping address after placing the order (weird). And I am glad AT&T informed me about the possible delay so I could avoid that.
