You mean Craig Federighi? Craig is the best part of the keynotes indeed. He Appears very genuine and is legitimately funny.
Apple should promote Craig as CEO. He is also the best part during the product intros. Put Tim, Phil, and Jony out to pasture.

Has Dr. Dre been passing around some kush for them to offer these MacBook Pros with "high" prices? ~Ain't nuthin' but a G" thang, baby!~ G stands for greed.

You guys heard about the new BMW 2016 Model?
It Is awesome. The most advanced car ever built.

It has the same performant engine as the last years model and looks the same although they shrunk it a bit. Oh and they built in a smaller fuel tank, but hey: the license plate now glows and has touch ability. The headlights are brighter and it now has two super quick opening doors instead of four like the last years model . Did we mention that the door on one side opens a Bit slower than the one on the other side? But you can buy accessories to make two doors look like four. Yes we could have built in a faster engine, but we do build for User experience and though you would not mind. Thats why we are able to sell it for only 40.000 USD instead of the 30.000 USD from last year. And yes, it still has the professional tag. We Love it. And we hope you do too. Please dont buy a microsoft eeeh other car manufacturers product. That would be admitting that MS blew us out of the water this fall season.

I think I made my mind, I will wait for another couple of months before buying anything, I expect to get more for a 4299$ plus tax laptop...

No 4K, no DDR4 support, limited to 16G RAM and we didn't start buying adapters!

Something that really upsets me it's the fact that there are no USB ports. Something I love (or used to love) about Apple products is how everything just works together and the fact that the iPhone 7 has a USB cable and the MacBook doesn't have a USB port just drives me insane. If they knew they were gonna get away from USB, why not change the iPhone 7 wire? I don't personally sync my iPhone to my MacBook, but I know a lot of people who do and people who dont wanna pay extra for iCloud storage, in my case I tend to travel and I like being able to charge my iPhone with my MacBook while I'm working on it! I just dont get it!

I will miss Craig Federini when I switch to windows. Hair force one. What a great guy

Yeah, I throughly enjoy his presentations too. He actually seems passionate about the Mac and MacOS and is funny too. The rest of the gang is just marketing talking heads. They have this subtle distance to the products they talk about.

Craig is an interesting case because his very presence highlights a problem at Apple. I believe Craig is the very embodiment of what Apple used to stand for. He's a passionate nice nerd that has a love for technology and people. Then you see Phil on stage acting pompous and arrogant, Eddie cue who clearly doesn't know what he's doing and others who are ripped straight out of a stock photo for "boring office people"

And now you got that guy at microsoft..panoy? Is that his name? Who delivers his presentations with so much emotion and passion that you would swear he didnt work for microsoft. And now MS is the heavy hitter. My oh my how times change

There's a huge difference between being able to speak well in front of an audience and being able to run a company effectively.

Panos Panay is the head of Microsoft Hardware division. He was previously head of the Microsoft Surface team.

You can tell that he's very passionate about his work.

There's a big difference between being excited about something you actually believe in and being "excited" about something you have to sell.

At Apple's Mac event: it's the latter. The Touch Bar is a gimmick and everyone on the team knows it.

BUT...if you have a mac, you get to watch further mac keynotes and still get excited. I will miss Craig Federini when I switch to windows. Hair force one. What a great guy

You can watch the keynotes fine on a PC ;)

People like to complain for no actual reason..they're never satisfied.

Is price an actual reason? The norm is not to have all the $$$$$$ and buy anything we want, if you can....lucky !!

no 32GB RAM... c'mon what in the royal ****.
Lots of devs have to run VMs... we need more RAM!

Not supporting 32 GB due to power constraints is a very very lame excuses.

The 2016 Macbook Pro's still have LPDDR3 (@ 1.2 V if I'm not mistaken), they could have gone for LPDDR4 (@1.1V). I'm very puzzled why they didn't go for LPDDR4 like every (?) notebook released in 2016 does. According to Samsung marketing it saves you about 40% power.....

Unless they had a whole warehouse of LPDDR3 parts lying around due to bad sales....

Another explanation could be that they had the design done and ready last year, but ultimately decided not to ship it for whatever reasons.

Makes you wonder what all these overpaid executives at Apple are doing:

- No TV or living room strategy. For me, Homekit is a "dud" until they have figured out compatibility with 3rd parties and let Siri be usefull.... in the living room.. no I don't want to grab my phone to turn on the light... hint...
- Two product refreshes per year ? iPhone and Macbook Pro ?
- So next year we get iMac ?
- I fear for iMac Mini and Pro.
- Playing around with their car pet project ?

I think you missed the part where i said "and still get excited". Like...about the features he's talking about DURING the keynote. Can't get excited about getting that stuff on a PC

The Lighting port is on its last legs. Or better said should be. I don't see no added value compared to USB-C:
- USB-C is also a reversible plug
- Lighting doesn't support USB 3.0 except for the variant they cooked up for the 12.9" iPad Pro (seems like there are retracted pins, like USB)
- USB has a much improved charging/power spec
- Lightning is limited to 720p resolution for video.

Only issue is that USB-C is about the same height as the old headphone jack, so maybe Jony Ive doesn't like it ;-)

It was introduced because they was no alternative, now it's stupid you have to use adapter cables to connect your iPhone to a Mac.

Typical of Apple these days; drip feeding the technology; a year or two down the line Tim & Co will be raving once again how awesome the MPB is now with 32Gb and improved dGPU...

Very certain many of us would have far preferred that Apple had not depreciated the battery capacity by 25% and offered a 32Gb option along with the 460 as the base dGPU - Form over Function, nothing more, nothing less. Another epic example of "Can't innovate anymore, my ass"...

Wait.....you can hackintosh that PC :p

Profit. LPDDR3 is much cheaper.

The other factor here is they want to upgrade as little of the hardware as possible, you are paying for the new design right now, In a year or two they will give you the internals that the competition is offering in 2016. So I'm late 2017 or 2018, they will offer KL processors ddr4, which they will spice cheaper and offer a major update....while not doing anything really.

It's always been this way to be honest. You never get an apple laptop with hardware that matches what is offered as state of the art, not cause they cannot, they are all about the markerting and design and previous hardware is much cheaper. A brand new product is all about the design and old hardware......like the joke of an iSight camera in my 12 MacBook

I'm not smart enough for that. By far

Yeah you are, just some research. but I agree with you Craig is the only reason I watch keynotes , wish he ran them all

The problem is not the price itself, it's the value

Especially in Europe/UK, the price of the non-touchbar mbp is insane for almost no value added. Basically a huge price bump for almost identical spec. Adding that last year model is not cheaper - which has always been the case so far.

I think all the complains come for another major reason. The competition is getting way better. I recall years ago when you had almost no option at all if you wanted a good design, good battery life and light laptop. This time is over, Apple has to learn it, or it'll pay the consequences like Microsoft did back in the days.

Apple was (is?) great because it addapted quickly to market and consummers. I don't see it still being the case. And I am talking in general, when you look at iPhones it's the same, the days where everyone was queeing in front of Apple store are gone. The price is the same or increases but the value in comparison to what we already have dosn't increase.

This generation of mbp is a "miss" for me, as this generation of iphones. But on iPhones I have big hopes for iPhones 8 and the days of the big lines on launch day may come back soon…

Did apple ever give discounts?. I am new to Apple gadgets and my assumption is that you can't get discounts just like HP, Dell or lenovo. Specifically can we expect any discount from apple like 10 or 15%???

In America, OEMs like Dell, HP, and others including Apple offer educational discounts. Takes a simple query on Google to answer your question. The base 13" gets nothing, the next two in line get $100 off, the low end 15" gets $150 off, and the high end gets $200 off.

You will rarely find an "education" store through the main site of any company that offers it because they bank on people buying it full price.

People like to complain for no actual reason..they're never satisfied.
Yep, peace and tranquility are so foreign to some folks that they avoid it like the plague and dig until they find a reason to complain about something. They create their own storms and then get upset when it rains. These folks could benefit from therapy but that wouldn't fit into their agenda.

In light of these higher prices for a new computer, how much money would you put into an old machine to keep it running?
