Good job on the translation, looks spot on.

And yeah, it really does make sense for them to hold back releasing it since economic conditions suck at the moment.

from his earlier posts on his blog, his friend may have some internal connection with Apple. So he's probably telling the truth. I wish this is
some false info. Let's see what is going to happen on Tuesday.

Regardless of the economy, people may buy other brands instead, since they offer newer tech. Not everyone can sit and wait and wait without any official indication of updates from Apple.

I think the same. Other brands are releasing brand new notebooks with "attractive" design and technology.

if i wanted an "attractive" designed notebook and didnt care about the OS or where the parts came from, i would have saved 2 grand and bought myself a new hp.

Wasn't the NVIDIA chipset delayed from September 23 or so to October 15? Maybe Apple was going to release the notebooks on October 14 when the chipset was scheduled for September 23, then when it was delayed, so did the release date of the notebooks.

And this makes a January release even more likely (as they said "NOV is the earliest"). :(

By the way… with all the "speed bump, then redesign" speculation going around, does anyone think we'll have a speed bump on October 14 and a full redesign in November? :p\

So what's it going to be? Q3 » September » Late September » October 14 » November » ?

MWSF?

GET READY FIRST

Do u guys remember the site tw.apple.pro ?
The author, who sent the new MBP pics a few months before, yesterday claimed Apple will not announce anything in Oct.................

Dont worry,
The macbooks will be upgraded soon enough.
Apple cant wait any more.
AAPL will be like at 60$ if Apple doesnt moove her ass fast

And that is just speculation:D

Very much so speculation, only 3-5% of Apple users know or rather care that Apple is about due for an update.

Hmm, not releasing new notebooks because of an unstable stock price isn't logical anywhere. Right now Apple's stock is unstable for 2 reasons, 1, the economical situation in the US and the world is unstable. 2, speculations most likely, the nvidia business hurt them and speculations from future releases. It would probobly not help their stock to wait with releases since this would only create more speculations.

Also, false rumors about Jobs having heart attacks and his death and all also do not help their stock.

October announcement, November release?

;)

[Edit:] I reread the translation and they say no to even an announcement in October.

1.If he had information why wouldn't he post it if he is willing to give it away? Plenty of people want to know.
Probably for the same reason why 9 to 5 mac deliberately withholds information.

If Apple waits that long, they dug themselves into a hole they might never able to dig themselves out of.
Probably, and a MWSF release means there might not be room for a tablet or other new device then.

Bleh.
I hope this isn't true. >.<

October announcement, November release?

;)

I agree.
Something like... October 14th or 21st keynote/announcement and then a November 4th or 11th release.

And I have a question, if they don't update the notebooks in November then when will they have a chance to upgrade the desktops/:apple:TV before Christmas?!

So here we go again ... new dates, new speculations ...

Not really, the October 14th speculation has been around for awhile.
I'm just taking some wild guesses for the November dates, although I actually put thought into them.

Maybe the desktops will be updated before the notebooks.

Possibly, although the rumors have been the exact opposite.
Well... we never know with Apple, they always seem to surprise us.

I can't necessarily comment on whether we'll be seeing new updates within the next two weeks, but I as well am waiting (while using a 1.2Ghz ibook).

However, withholding product release due to the economic situation is not fully rational. We are still in a decline of sorts (though we won't actually know that until after the fact), and it's not predicted to get better any time soon. Releasing any items in January is likely not to be adopted by consumers, I would predict. Most people have the least amount of money available to them in January and February due to increased spending during November and December. Given that retailers are already predicting a very thin profit this winter season, it can be assumed that people don't exactly have money to be dropping on new technology post-Christmas. I think people are starting to be very conservative and careful with their money and maybe are actually going to start saving!?

I think the notebooks will be updated before the desktops. But if the notebooks are delayed and the desktops aren't, then we may see what I said.

Probably for the same reason why 9 to 5 mac deliberately withholds information.

Except that he is willing to give it out if you just simply PM him. Maybe he just loves PMs. 9 to 5 mac isn't saying "We have this info and if you want to know it you can PM me".

I just don't get why he would write a post on it, be perfectly willing to give his information out, yet he won't write it in the article. Seems a little off.

You mean to appear as if they actually knew something, but weren't telling, even though most likely there's simply almost nothing to tell?

I think people are starting to be very conservative and careful with their money and maybe are actually going to start saving!?

Which wouldn't in itself be bad for them, although the reason for it is. I couldn't believe it when I first saw figures how much average debt in US exceeds average savings. That's really bad for economy.

If neither is update, then Apple will lose potential sales. Face it, look around the PC markets and you'll see cheaper or equivalent prices for better hardware. Apple will update soon, or fail to be competitive for one of the busiest times of the shopping year.

Does it really matter?

I just think that it's not worth waiting. Get the current one! It's a great computer and will be for years! It's a Mac! The classic all-silver design looks great, and there's nothing wrong with the 8600 GT nowadays. I got mine in January (obviously just before the Penryn ones came out) and it has a 100% working GPU. My dad has two others from the same generation - all working 100% with no GPU issues.
Did I care when the Penryn model came out three weeks after I got mine? No.
Unless you're desperate to have the very latest thing from Apple because it makes you feel better or something, there's really nothing wrong with getting the current generation MBP. A computer is a computer, and you won't be using it for the rest of your life. It's inevitable that your Mac will be superseded by a better one. Deal with it.

Sure, people will disagree with me. In my opinion, and not meaning to be rude or anything, I think it should be realised that there are more important things in life than your computer.
