What's there not to get? There are obvious quality issues all over the place. iOS 8 has been a train wreck, and you jump in saying you have a perfect iPhone. Congratulations. Thanks for your insight.

So let me get this straight. You're going to call someone out when you think they're implying that Apple's QC is perfect, and then go on to say that iOS 8 is a train wreck, as if it's not possible for anyone to have a good experience with iOS 8.

Based on the end of your post, it seems like you want this thread to be about bashing Apple- doesn't matter if people are indeed having good experiences, you just want to hear about the bad things.

I'm not saying there aren't defective iPhones- heck, I've had a few of them. Apple's software QC could use some work too. But why are you hostile against people that are happy with what they have?

Exactly. This person is an example of someone who gets it.

Why do people think that their one problem extrapolates into many, many more? Can you not comprehend that your experience is rare? What is it about society these days that makes people climb to the highest mountain and scream their refrain about their injustice?

You got a bad phone. It happens. A single problem is not an indication of several more.

Maybe I just have bad luck but it definitely seems that way too me. I'm already on my third iPhone 6 Plus and with every single one of them I had to contact support right away.

First had a big red stuck pixel right in the middle, incredibly annoying because it showed up everywhere.
Second phone was ok but had a long scratch on the display right out of the box. (If I were picky I'd also mention that the home button is incredibly mushy but I'm fine with that)
Today I got my third phone and this one is fine except for completely broken backlight that doesn't go below like 40% brightness for one half of the screen while it fully dims the other half. So the image is split in two brightness-wise in most use cases. Also it goes nuts and flickers if you wake it up from sleep.

Really think people need to keep a couple of things in mind with any new iPhone launch:

1) It's more or less unmatched in terms of number of units sold on or around release day. Apple's figure of 10 million iPhone 6's is almost comically high. To put it in context the Galaxy S5 sold around 11 million units in a month.

2) As with any new device it's only once that initial batch or two gets out into the world that Apple start getting true feedback on any issues that may have slipped through testing. Unfortunately because that initial batch is so large even a very small percentage of units with issue will seem like a serious issue.

The thing is there's not really any way around this. No matter how good the quality control process - and Apple's actually seems pretty damn good considering the number of units out there and the volume of actual issues reported this time round - those first batches will always have a higher chance of issues because they're, well, the first batches! I'm saying this as someone with a very unlucky history with new Apple products (last issue with an iPhone 5 where the battery hadn't been glued down) but it's always part of the risk you take for being an early adopter.

Thankfully Apple's aftersales support is (almost) always excellent and they'll (usually) go out of their way to resolve any issues like this. If you're not happy taking that risk then I'd always suggest hanging on until initial launch reports come in. This year I've done just that and should be getting my 6+ in three weeks or so and, fingers crossed, it'll be a good 'un.

Why is it that its always newbies that have such bad luck? And such problems that no one else has?

Over the years I've had my share of bad iPhone units around launch and although quality control could be better when pumping out so many units I will attest that I've never had any sort of trouble getting a replacement at the Apple Stores. Even out of warranty units I've been able to exchange for a replacement with ease.

People join forums like this to ask questions or discuss issues. This usually occurs when product launches, which is when most of the sales occur. Users without issues aren't likely to make an account on a site like this in the first place.

No, no that's not it. Newbies with excessive iPhone problems always out way those that have been here for some time.

Dug out this old account I had one here just for you. :)
Here's also an image of the two phones side by side with the backlighting issue.

Both on the lowest setting, the right one is completely uniform, while the left one is way too bright on one side. It's even worse in person.

What is your idea of a lot of "LCD screen. Dead pixels, dirt/dust under screen. Huge disparity in quality of the screens-yellow, dull, blurry, etc." Have you see 10, 100, 1000. Say it is 1000 you have seen against the 10,000,000 they sold, that is 1/10,000 of 1% being defective. Most companies would thank god for that defective rate.

Actually... 1% of defective production is a VERY BAD rate...
