Baldurs Gate 3 on MacOS

Hey there, a weird question here.

Is there a way to get BG3 on MacOS without having to install Steam or any other similar app? If I could I’d straight up buy it from App Store, but it isn’t available there.
I don’t have a Steam, don’t want to register just to get the game, I don’t have a GOG for the same reason. But I heard that I can get it on GOG and then uninstall it while still keep the game itself installed and play it, is that true? That’s what I’m looking for..

You need an account on GOG to buy it but you don't need GOG Galaxy installed to play it. GOG doesn't sell games with DRM and there is a way to download game installers without Galaxy.

I’ve got enough in my gaming queue, that I’ll wait for the BG3 price to fall. I buy a lot of games on Steam, but lately, I’ve been checking GOG when I identify a game I want, because it’s DRM free. And lately despite owning Fallout 4 forever, purchased it new 2015ish from Steam, when Steam/Bethesda shoved the Next Gen patch down our throats, which killed a whole lot of mods, and no way I saw not to install it, I purchased it on GOG for $10, not the $20 Steam was asking for (for a new purchase which did not apply to me there.)🤔

Hey so I bought BG3 on GOG but every time I try to play offline game just immediately crashes and it won't start unless I am online and start the game through GOG launcher... Any ideas? That app is trash I don't want it on my Mac

GoG runs ok on my PC, I‘ve not tried running any game without the launcher to see if a game will run without it. As a Non-DRM game there should be a way to get it to go. 🤔

I gave up on it completely.. With the crap the company is dealing with right now, I highly doubt we will ever see any kind of update for Mac version.

Sadly that is what happens when you stop using a dedicated mac porting dev team and try to do it on your own.

Eh. I don't think the Mac porting teams ever did a great job? It was really common for the Mac version of a game to be on a different version from the PC version and be incompatible for multiplayer too. The biggest exception I think for this is Blizzard games but they handled those in house...

Evilrils (I think I spelled that right) was pretty good. For major update they were only a few weeks behind. I think hotfixes were up to date though.

It is a fun game, in my opinion. Though I stopped halfway through Act 2 and started playing other games. Never got back into it as I feel like I would need to start over to recall the story line I chose to follow.
