Yes! You can't get near a computer you want to look at with a view to buying in the Apple store on Regent Street in London for all the damn tourists and students checking their mail and surfing the web.

It's really off putting if you are trying to buy something.

I'm all for them kicking people off when they're messing around, but in one instance where I was considering one but didn't want some help, I got kicked off for some training. Only problem I had with that was that there were a bunch of 14 year olds all over the store just standing around taking myspace pictures and clearly not even doing anything to signify buying. Couldn't the guy have asked any of them?

Don't forget to breath.

But, on topic, you should have approached Staff, as indicated, or maybe spoken to a Genius.

You can't get near a ruddy Genius or any member of staff on Regent's Street.

My brand new MBP has a flickering screen issue and Apple say I have to take it in to Regent's Street for a Genius to look at but I just can't face standing in a que all day.

The number of times I've been in there, tried to ask a question about something I wanted to buy and just given up and gone home in frustration...

How do you know the kid was dumb?

Because he just kept pressing random "buttons"...

And he obviously wasn't going to buy one, yet someone who may potentially spend money on one (although put off by the tariff'; a story not for this thread, though) was not able to demo the unit because the kids was using it. Darn kids. Dicking around with fun things.

Yo, dude, what's wrong with hippies, dude. We've never done anything to you, dude. Dude, hippies are cool, dude. Whoa, dude, like take a chill pill dude. Like, seriously, dude.

Sorry. I had to.:p

And those kids are all for you being kicked off instead of them.

You think the stores are just for buying. You're wrong, and that's your problem, not theirs. The store is for touching and playing around, too. I guess you've never seen anything you liked while simply browsing a store with no intention to buy anything.

The responses posted so far are amazing.

Well it's a HUGE store on Regent Street.
If they got their act together they could have the whole of the downstairs area, which is vast, for dicking around , and the smaller upstairs area for people who actually want to look at the computers instead of Facebook.

If I was manager of that store I certainly wouldn't let children monopolize the computers.

It might be hard to police, so easiest thing is to just not have Internet on the computers. Everyone knows what the Internet is anyway, no need to demo that. iPhoto, Garageband etc need demoing.

Why? Those kids grow up and become consumers some day...

They also have long lasting memories of bitter situations. Besides, there's got to be a handful of them who have parents with money.

I know my kid sits at the kids games table and plays while I'm shopping for more stuff I don't really need, so I guess I would be really pissed if you kicked him off just because you didn't think kids should play with computers.

I don't know, that's just me though...

I find it extremely annoying when I go to the Regents Street store, to get an update on whichever MR meet I'm going to, and I cannot get straight on a decent machine. Last time I ended up on an MBA, WORST. KEYBOARD.EVER.

No, but I do hate the girls who come in screaming very loudly who just take pictures on Photo Booth and send them to their crappy pink phones and go "LOOK I HAVE IT ON MY PHONE NOW AAAA!!!!"

Now, THATS annoying!

I take it people don't like the regent street store...

I was meant to be going there last September to buy my iMac but I just bought online. Long story short, it sounds like I'm lucky to NOT have gone :|

Ugh I know the type. Incredibly loud, too. Those in-your-face-y types. Ughhhh. I hate those SO much.

Haha. The nerve. Just wait until someone phones the police on one :p Then they'll be sorry!
