Apple TV bandwidth when streaming different content? (Airplay, dualscreen)

What factors does the bandwidth depend on?

Is there always a lag when streaming over AirPlay? Is there buffering? and with dualscreen (when a game is on the iphone, and additional data from the game is shown on apple tv. I mean one application on iOS, which divides the screen into 2 parts and one part is on the Apple TV, and the other on the iPhone / iPad screen)
