Bang & Olufsen today launched its latest premium over-ear headphones, the Beoplay HX. Housed in a design geared for maximum comfort and durability, the headphones offer listeners adaptive active noise cancelation and up to 35 hours of listening time on a single charge.

Beoplay HX offers a powerful listening experience through two custom designed 40mm speaker drivers with neodymium magnets and bass ports which ensures optimal bass performance. Four dedicated microphones create an impressive call quality by utilizing advanced beamforming technology, while the battery optimization ensures up to 35 hours of play time – the equivalent of five working days of listening experience without having to recharge the battery.
Design-wise, the Bluetooth headphones have been crafted with comfort in mind, and feature a revamped adjustable headband that fits a broad variety of head sizes, along with a center-relief zone for extended wear.

The upper headband is made from cow hide with a smooth grain, while the lower headband is covered in a knitted fabric. Meanwhile, the ear cushions are made from soft lambskin and the inner material consists of memory foam that adapts to the shape of the ear.

The Beoplay HX cost $499 (€499/£449) and come with a global three-year warranty. The headphones are available from today in Black Anthracite, with a sandy white color coming at the end of April, and a brown Timber color arriving in May. See the Bang & Olufsen online store for more.

I bought an earlier Beoplay version of these and they literally sucked. As an example during the winter the collar of a jacket would brush against the touchpad with various annoying results like change in volume and skip to the next track. No problem I thought, just resort to the cable during winter. The flimsy connector was broken before spring. HUGE waste of money. They sounded OK, but not anything special.

Love to see innovation happen. Meanwhile Apple needs to buy beats to make acceptable speakers. Man those homepods are the worst. They got it so wrong they had to discontinue. I was one of those who bought it discounted thinking they would push better software for it. Plain sad.

I'd love to get my ears inside a pair of these for a comparison. If reputation is anything to go by, should be in for a treat. That said, I'm not a fan of B&O circular ear cup design.

Those in UK/Europe get jipped on pricing it seems.

Actually, once VAT is removed the price is about the same. For example, in Austria the VAT is 83 Euros so the actual price is 416 Euros or about $490. US buyers would still pay sales tax in most states, adding about 20 to 40+ dollars to the cost.

Yea. I have a pair of the old wired B&O ear buds and they are very nice and well made. I wonder how the NC will compare to Bose/Sony? For me the better sound is nice but NC is the decider.

Just an FYI: the case design that Bang & Olufsen is providing works better for travel protection than the AirPods Max case, but is less convenient for home use. Do you really want to zip/unzip a large case like this at home every time you want to grab the headphones or give them some protection when you put them down? That's what the AirPods Max case design does better. It wasn't really intended to be a travel case. It's more about fast access and convenience while also providing better protection than just leaving them out.

I bought a set of H9i's a couple of years ago, and they're easily the best I've owned. Great all-round sound quality, and very comfortable (even over extended use). Bluetooth between iOS devices (even with AirPods-like switching) works really well. I can pause music playback on my iPad, pick up my iPhone, and play from there without any re-pairing / fiddling. Great product, and well worth the price.

I'm sure the newer generation can only get better.

But does it have a power button?

Curious decision with the round cups since you're likely going to find some user ears will not comfortably fit within a round space. They look awfully generic. At that price I don't find myself compelled. Much less than with AirPod Max - and I haven't pulled the trigger on that hardware either.
I used to have Beoplay H9i with the same cup shape. they fit my ears better than the AirPod Max
