My only experience with Bank of America is with my Visa credit card and I'd say they're pretty good. Around here all the banks are only regional and none of the nationwide/international banks have any branches here, so I can't comment on any of their checking services.

I'm looking for a new bank. I currently use Bank of America and I hate them. Nothing is easy and they keep messing up and charging me fees.

So, the three major banks around here are Bank of America, TD Banknorth, and Webster Bank. Does anyone have experience with any of these banks?

I would be getting a (free) savings account, and a (free) checking account with debit/check card.

Just don't use Suntrust. They are the devil, I'm switching to USAA.

I guess I'll be the official downer here but I can't help but think how stupid it is to post to an international forum, a question about which *local* bank in your area, or your particular country is "the best," without even mentioning what country/area you are from or in.

The underlying assumption, that everyone on this forum, and indeed the entire Internet, is from *your* country is kind of insulting. Funny how that particular countries citizens are the only ones that do this, isn't it?

And people still wonder why many folks find USA to be an arrogant country full of navel gazers, with no clue about the rest of the world.

.

Wow. I'm so sorry I'm stupid. It clearly says under my avatar where I'm from, and if you don't know where CT is, because you know so much about the whole world, a 1.5 second Google search would tell you where it is and anything else you'd like to know.

Also, I never assumed that everyone on the Internet or even this forum is from my country.

And yes, the US more arrogant of a country than most. However, lots of people aren't. I think that it's, as you put it, kind of insulting for you to assume that we're all arrogant and don't care about the world. Because that's simply not true.

Back on topic, the only reason that I'm not really considering credit unions is because of the lack of ATMs.

I find it ironic how you call the USA arrogant, only to show everyone how arrogant you are yourself. So what "flawless" land are you from?

The fact that you (and most other countries) like to pick on America only reveals your immaturity. It's not perfect, no, but name me a country that truly is. Please, I'd love to hear it.
