Yeah, and since they break frequently they should be included with the (substantial) price of the phone. So use the adaptor. The headline is that they might stop including NOT that they will stop supporting it.

They gave you the dongle for 2 years. Use what you have and/or join the wireless party.Cheap a$$, Apple! Sigh.
They include wired headphones.lose the dongle? then include airpods.
Why not leave a charger out of the box while you're at it?
Makes sense to me. Apple, as most corporations, go after PROFITS. More power to them. I never took the headphone adapter out of the box. A wasted cost.
Hint. What does the emoji at the end mean?
1/8” analog connections (aka headphone jack) are the worst audio connectors available. It’s only redeeming feature is that it’s small. And it’s pure crazy to argue better transmission/interference with a wireless digital connection where there is absolutely zero crosstalk.
And then with Apple’s W1 signal, which easily bests anything a 1/8” analog connection can muster.
Which is all just further irony by headphone jack enthusiasts arguing sound quality, because headphones are the worst monitoring devices. Every headphone design ever produced, trades audio quality for isolation and portability.
And I think you're missing the point he and I both made - this is not about wireless. A wireless solution to your hardware issue would suck for you, agreed. This is about buying the dongle(s), put each on the end of the half dozen cables you own and leave them there, and you are done. The rest of your setup is exactly the same: all cables, no latency, no wireless.
YEAH!!! WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO USE BLUETOOTH! ALSO I WANT 30 PIN - LIGHTNING ADAPTERS INCLUDED BECAUSE WTF. AND WHY SHOULD BUY A USB-SERIAL ADAPTER IF MY COMPUTER DOESN'T SUPPORT USB - INCLUDE THAT IN THE BOX TOO. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO USE AIRPLAY???? PUT A LIGHTNING TO HDMI ADAPTER IN THERE. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR APPLE TO SUPPORT MY OUTDATED TECHNOLOGY????
Nope, 1/8” (headphone jack) is an unbalanced audio connection.
You can tell by the connector tip, count the rings. For balanced, you’d need a hot, cold and ground for each side, L and R, so six rings total.
Fiber optic smokes any analog connection. It could easily fit in an iPhone and would be smaller than the analog 1/8”. But why? If you can transmit the same 1s and 0s wirelessly, why would you bother with a connector and cabling? Cables and connectors will always be prone to stress and breakage.
The analog audio jack will be around long after the lightning port is extinct and the iPhone becomes passe. We will come back here in 25 years and see lol.
But regardless if folks had their way Apple would never drop support for anything.
It warms my heart though when they stand their ground and I hope this rumor becomes truth.
Folks need to realize that just because someone wants something doesn’t mean they will get it.
iPhone users have had at least 3 generations to deal with not having a headphone jack.
What should they do? Include it forever?

First Tim gets rid of the earpod case, now the dongle. The next thing to go will be the stickers...nooooo!
Er.......yes. You've literally solved the problem.
Exactly, it’s inevitable to piss off a few people for the sake of progress .
Tell me about the progress which took place between the iPhone 6s and the 7 when Apple removed the headphone jack.
Please, explain this great advancement.
Rewatch the keynote it’s explained as to why it had to go.

I think they truly rationalized the "wireless" argument in their process and convinced themselves that this was the right thing to do.
No I’m not saying to take every rumor as fact. Although in that case, the new pricing is also true with the X at $899 and larger model $999. I don’t think I agree with Apple not including this purely because it’s a lower price, because it’s still more expensive than any other iPhone. I reason behind it is more to do with moving on and customers not needing it, 2 years after the headphone jack was removed, there are (arguably) better solutions available.Logically, then we'd also have to take the rumors of lower iPhone pricing as factual, too. I'll go on record that I'm fine with Apple keeping all of their accessories if my next iPhone costs significantly less.
Problem with USB C is that the connector is larger than lightning. And Apple eliminated the headphone jack to provide more space for other components so presumably the space allowance is limited to the point where lightning is required.I wish iPhone would get on the USB-C train. Lightning is old hat.
Actually I gave you another reason, and no it’s not true ‘because I say so’."Because it’s true."
Oh, it's true because you say so. Got it. Can you post a link confirming your assertion?

But sure, here’s your confirmation:

In around 6 months, click on the link and scroll down to the ‘In the box’ section.
Do you feel the same about your power company?
Do you believe everything they tell you? They could have fit it in. This guy made it work:
Imagine what apple could do with all of their engineering ability.
