Will they include Airpods? No.

Will they include Apple Music? No.

Will they include iCloud Storage? No.

People are going to buy it regardless, Apple will not shy away from profiteering.

This. Especially with all these installment plans nowadays, there will still be plenty of people buying it.

The year of "8" (iPhone 8 and Note 8) marks the beginning of the era of $1000 smartphones.

This can make sense for one phone but when buying for a family plan not as much. We have the family Apple Music subscription and 200gb ICloud for backups. I plan on buying an 8 and my wife a 7s+ so we will see.

I was able to get the 425 off the Note 8 deal if you had a Note 7. So no iphone for this year, I got the Note 8 with the free 128gb sd card and wireless charger for $500. Can't beat that. Oh well, was getting bored with the iphone. Hopefully next year something more exciting from Apple comes along.

I don't think so, these phones are becoming a commodity. You can get very good phones now for under 500, so I don't think they are gonna get much traction with those prices when you can get a real good phone for less than half that.

By "lessen" they mean "saddle" consumers with costly features they don't want. If Apple includes Music or boosted iCloud accounts it won't be "complimentary." It will be padded into the price. The consumer who doesn't want these two items CAN ignore them but CAN'T avoid paying for them since it's bundled into the price. It's NOT like Apple is offering an OPTIONAL discounted Music and iCloud pricing to buyers as a "bonus". It's like the U2 deal -- here take this crap. We insist.

Obviously this is still a rumor but damn if it doesn't have the money grubbing stench of TC.

People complain about the phone's potential cost but people will pay $350 for the new Beats headphones. Are a set of headphone really worth 1/3 price of the phone.
I don't want Apple music and I don't want temporary increase in iCloud - just charge what you want for the Phone and I and others will decide if it is worth the price.

The supply will NOT meet demand for 6 months for iPhone Pro with ZERO marketing regardless if it costs $999 or $1199 with no freebies. The only phones they need to worry about moving are the 7S and 7S+ because they will look far inferior.

Why would Apple make any attempt to incentivise purchase?

Even at the speculated high purchase price, they will still sell EVERY single iPhone 8 they can possibly manufacture.

I still don't understand why people are losing their minds about these price points. The fully loaded 7 plus was just under a thousand bucks. Now, they're offering a premium model for a hundred more or so. Doesn't seem like that big a jump. And here's the really good news for all those concerned consumers. If we can't afford the higher priced 8, there's a 7s and 7s+ model. So, we all have options. :)

I think a better move would be to include AirPods with iPhone 8 purchases. That would be a way better incentive and would help with the transition to bluetooth headphones for all.

The iPhone SE at $399 looks increasingly like an absolute bargain!

(Not to mention being the best iPhone Apple have ever produced....)

Or they could, you know, not charge astronomical prices. But, apparently, that’s too easy.

Apple will not be bundling any such service with the new iPhone. However. They may bundle it with AR glasses or something along those lines. Theirs no reason why we won't be able to VR for movies or certain games as well. So I can see the iPhone 8 coming with something like that. Heck. They may come with AirPods too. But not any extra service.

Hard to imagine Apple is generous enough to throw in these "Gifts" with an iPhone. Although it kind of makes sense for an anniversary phone.

These aren't gifts. They're rolled into the price like anything else.

This is no different than T-Mobile and all their "free" addons. People get all excited believing they're truly free when in fact the price of those items is rolled in to the price they're paying. It's not as if the company is saying "We're cool taking in a lot less profit even though that would be against our legal requirement as a publicly traded company."

If the entry is 64gig, get bent. That's pathetic for a premium phone.

It's pathetic to buy the entry level phone. That's like going to buy a Porsche and looking for the one with zero options. A clear sign someone is spending outside their means and buying something they can't really afford.

Apple is going to "lessen the impact" by calling the phone the Anniversary Edition, thereby ensuring that it's marketed as a status symbol—which will "justify" an exorbitant price. Seriously, how could they come out with a 7s and an 8? That makes no sense whatsoever. They're coming out with the 7s and the Super-duper-kickass-be-the-envy-of-your-friends-while-you-empty-your-checking-account Edition. The phone is going to be positioned to stockholders as gravy on top of the profit the company will make selling the normal upgraded model. There will be no deals on price. They won't need to offer any deals.

Given that a phone is a necessity anymore, and they're so easy to break - They're definitely not Nokias - Apple is just going to have to face the fact that they've hit a price wall. $1100+ (including *just* a 2 year warranty) is just too much for a device that probably wont make it to the 3 year mark.

You'd "actually" still be paying $1000 for the phone. What you'd get for that price are two bundled services that you may not actually want. This is not even remotely the same thing as being offered a discount.

Don't have much use or need for those additional services. Would rather get the iPhone for less. All these price hikes are just gonna cause more people who are on the fence to jump ship to other brands.
