I got the feeling that all those content providers want to make their own app so they can control the prices using in-app purchase.

Yet, I want that app or on overall app so I can manage all my purchased e-books, like the one that comes on the iPad.

Also, perhaps there would start a new rage between content providers and Apple where Apple prohibits theses apps like Opera is prohibited because there is already an app.

What do you all think?

This is effing fantastic news!

The thing I so much wanted for the iPad was to have multiple book store options, so that there is real competition on price, innovation and useability. Looking forward to finding exactly what I want on either the iBookstore, B&N, Stanza or Kindle software.

Dear Barnes and Noble, if Apple even hint at not letting this thing onto our devices immediately pursue an anti-competitive action against them. You will have our full support.

Does Apple allow an Amazon.com Music Buying App or one from Target or Sony or Wal-Mart? If not, why would it seem so far-fetched that they would allow this type of direct competition on their iPad?!

I think Apple allowed book buying apps on the iPhone/iPod touch because it helped them become the 150,000-Trick Pony they are today -- the phone that will do EVERYTHING. However,... the iPad is truly a different situation. I believe that Apple should block the other Apps and offer only theirs. Will it bum out some people? Sure. However, these people still have their books and the smaller devices to read them on so they really do not have any reason to cry. No one says that Apple has to let their direct competitors have a premiere spot on their device. I certainly wouldn't.

Very good point

Importing of books?

To import one´s own books would be a treat for the iPad. Since every book has an unique ISBN-number and also barcode in most cases. Just punching those in and voila! there are your dear personal library fetched from a database somewhere. Same thing as importing your CD´s. Any takers?
