No matter how you spin it, a reduction in performance compared to the previous gen. just doesn’t sound good.
just what apple wanted. well done. at least you feel like you made that decision on your own.Ya I’m very content with the extra $200 to go from the 16/512 air to the base model 14” Pro.
Depends how you define “real-world”.How much is this likely to impact real-world usage for most people? (Genuinely asking here)
Well Apple didn’t sell it for $1800 so that argument falls flat pretty quick.just what apple wanted. well done. at least you feel like you made that decision on your own.
of course not don't be so stupid.
the M1 air had faster speeds and this thing is from £1,249
this is a whole new level of being cheap and ripping off customers from Apple. it's disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself for defending them.
So spec a 512 GB SSD and move on. This seems more like an issue for internet forum flamebait than anything else.of course not don't be so stupid.

They started cutting production costs at the expense of performance and still raised the price of the machine. If this were a $699 Dell it would be a non-issue but this is marketed as a premium device. It is a base model Air.
A base model.
Air.
What you gonna do with it?
Render Toy Story 10?
Use it as a high capacity high speed quantum universe time travel data center?
it's the same **** they pulled with the iPad Air/Pro.Well Apple didn’t sell it for $1800 so that argument falls flat pretty quick.
And this performance hit only applies to the 256 GB spec, right?Depends how you define “real-world”.
Tests show significantly slower performance on the base model M2 Pro compared to the base model M1 for tasks like exporting video. Like up to 40% slower.
it's the same **** they pulled with the iPad Air/Pro.
it literally made no sense to buy the 256GB Air when for "only" an extra £150 you get a better camera, processor, more ram, etc.
the pricing is set up to push you to the higher option.
apple is laughing because they now got an extra $200 from someone and that person is like "ya! i'm content"
Not sure why, but Toy Story 10 got me good. Thank you sir/madam.It is a base model Air.

what if i don't need 512GB?So spec a 512 GB SSD and move on. This seems more like an issue for internet forum flamebait than anything else.
Also, my dude, maybe dial back the aggression?
Still waiting for the day Apple makes 512GB/16GB standard.
256 8 has been the starting config for like a decade now.
Not how that works, they technically haven't done anything wrong.I think most class action suits are absurd but I'd understand if Apple gets one for this.
All the more reason to stick with the M1 for anyone considering purchasing a base model config.so if they don't notice, it's OK?
