Not exactly "real-world". Most people who would be running such a task won't be using 256 GB models in the first place.
Says who?
People do video editing on the iPad Pro which has the same chip.

The iPad Pro is unlikely to be their sole and main editing device. And who said anything about chip? The issue is storage.Says who?

Especially if you’re paying more vs the previous gen.No matter how you spin it, a reduction in performance compared to the previous gen. just doesn’t sound good.

I can't wait to see what their headline/title is for it...The MaxTech video will be interesting
You mean videoSSSSS.The MaxTech video will be interesting
Personally don't think so. Even if they do, speed is not really the main factor when they choose to travel with that MBA.You don’t think these people will use the base M2 MBA as a side machine next to their 16” M1 Max MacBook Pro for example?
How about the base model shouldn't be any slower than its base-model m1 predecessor... but yet it is.It is a base model Air.
A base model.
Air.
What you gonna do with it?
Render Toy Story 10?
Use it as a high capacity high speed quantum universe time travel data center?
Is it? In what regard? Do we have any videos of the thing actually being used for tasks or is it all isolated benchmarks? How about the base model shouldn't be any slower than its base-model m1 predecessor... but yet it is.
lmao. glad i didn't pre order now.
wtf you doing apple?
it will take 5 min to load Safari, 10 min to load Chrome ... people here are so obsessed with these stupid benchmarks and totally ignore the average user's experience ...How much is this likely to impact real-world usage for most people? (Genuinely asking here)
Since your data is in the cloud are you compiling locally or in the cloud? If so then speed won't make a ton of difference. Locally, 2 NANDS should be faster than single - but by how much? We'll have to wait for the comparison videos that should be coming soon.I'm an academic who preordered the 16/256. For coding tasks /working with data, would having the 512 SSD be more important to speed than the 16gb? I use cloud so don't actually need more storage.
Also planning to keep computer for a long time.

It's stunning to me how worked up some get over this topic. If the product doesn't meet your needs, move on and buy something else. Class action lawsuit, really? Oh my.
Yeah I'm surprised, that is a really good review. Subtitles are good too. (Click ProfessionalFan's post to see the video linked).Great review too
